How's it goin' eh?
« on: July 13, 2007, 06:22:02 PM »
Holy crap man! I can't believe I'm here doing this... uknow I had the same thoughts during basic training with the Canadian forces when I was 20.  I wouldn't say I'm the average joe.  I'm half way through an honours chem degree, I'm a ticketed machinist, working on my plumbing designation throught the Alberta Apprenticeship program.  I like to cook, build/reno houses, rock climb and ballroom dance.  I was well financed until I bought a house.  So... please school me on what I need to know.

Cheers,
joe rockhead

About what  ??? More seriously, Joe Rockhead, welcome to RWD, but it would certainly help if you were slightly more specific ;) ;D.

I must ASSUME you mean that with reference to pursuing an FSUW. To what end ? Dating ? Marriage ? Anyway, first have a look at the RWD FAQ's (Main Menu at left).

Actually, that is also part of it. This is not the Actors' Studio, you know ;).

Joe,

Welcome to RWD! Where in Alberta are you? I lived in Calgary for 5 years. We have another member here who is from the Edmonton area but now lives in Russia. Looks like Alberta is putting up a good showing here.

Best thing you can do is to spend the next few days/weeks (I'm serious) reading through this site. Lots of trip reports, FAQ's, pretty much anything will give you a good head's up as to what it's all about. Once you start to get a feel for it then ask a question or two.

I'll start. Have you written to any FSUW yet? Just been looking at the agency sites? Ever been to Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, etc.? Think it's going to be easy? Okay, I'll answer this one. Not on your life! Worth it? You better believe it is!

YO JOE, you got it going on already. . . you need to know nothing more than experience.  Everything else that you have is exactly that - your life experience.  The RWD is comprised of very many experienced, educated and sharing individuals.  Why ask what we what we want?  What the heck do you want?  A beautiful woman; one that cannot be found in your country?  You have good credentials (as you wonderfully articulated) and a resume that I find hard to believe that you are presenting to "us". . .

Well, maybe you are going for Lily!  She will want a link Bro. . .

 ;D

Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.  As far as the resume goes... that's the readers digest version.  I left out the two years in a monastery and I'm pretty confident I can out Homes Mike Holmes.  What I want is some adventure, love, a few good laughs and not getting a divorce as I am pretty sure there is a woman I don't like somewhere here in Alberta that I could just give a house to.  I'm pretty impressed with this site, I wish I had found it a couple of weeks back.  I dropped some money on the Anastasia website, but the women seem almost too good.  Any comments are all welcome.  Don't worry 'bout sugar coating anything.

Cheers

Welcome.

I don't know specifically what advice you are seeking.

If it is a reputable site or agency there are many.

I used www.elenasmodels.com and had great success there.  Found my fiancee in just a few short weeks.  (days actually)  No - we did not get engaged that fast - but we started communicating early on in my search.

Good luck and if you want to be sure about the legitimacy of an agency or site - run it by us here and we can give you the real scoop.

I guess I'm still bogged down by the NA concept of the "league", who may actually be in mine and who isn't.  Just negative perspiration I'm trying shrug off these days.  Some great reading on this site.

Hey Joe!  I wouldn't judge who is in your league or not according to a photo as I hope an FSUW wouldn't judge her worthiness to you by your socioeconomic strata.  I would jump in go for it all and find where the communication feels the best - to me, that's the most important component one must have. . .

to even get started!

Hi, Joe, welcome to the RWD.

There is indeed a league.  It's pretty easy to get hooked up with a bimbo if you are not careful, it's also possible to find a decent, and caring woman way above the average if you play your cards right.  It's up to you to sort out the riff-raff as you claw your way through the chatter.

Things you should do and look for first is an honest self assessment of who and what you are, then proceed to find a woman with a similar education and values package.  IMHO, physical beauty should be the least of your worries, there are just as many good women who are also pretty, as there are of the other kind.  Only you can determine what you need and deserve in a partner.  On the low end of the scale are the shop girls and waitresses, on the high end there are the university educated professionals, all of whom will consider your advances if they are truly looking for a serious mate.  You will find extremely good looking women in each venue.

Welcome Joe,

There is an old Air Force slogan "Aim High", do not be afraid to set your sights on exactly the lady you are interested in. If you focus your search on exactly the physical, intellectual, personality and demeanor of the lady of your dreams in the begining and ignore the rest you will have a better opportunity of finding just what you are looking for, remember you can always expand your search criteria later.

Again welcome

Don't get sent to the store for a can of 'prop wash'.

LOL BC!

I was talking the other day to an ex Army gunnery Sgt. He was telling me about the "bolt stretcher" they would send the noobs looking for and I was telling him about the "can of checkered paint" we would send them looking for when I worked building wooden fishing boats. Ya just gotta love torturing the rookies sometimes!

Joe,

Welcome to RWD.  This is genuinely the best site you'll if you're considering a future marriage with a lady from FSU.

READ
As Catzen mentioned READING is the first thing you should do...  In the previous threads you'll find informatin that could save yer butt...  Pay particular attention to the Trip Reports because many of them will give you a clear picture of what to expect when you take a trip.

TRAVEL
TAKE A TRIP!  Many men dream about this journey but they never travel...  You can't be successful if you don't travel.

ATTITUDE
Once you travel you'll find all the reading and preparation gave you a concept of what to expect - but nothing can prepare you for the reality of your first trip.

It will be (and should be) a wonderful experience.  My suggestion is to be geninely interested in the places you're going (rather than just focusing on the girls) and you'll have a terrific time (and possibly better success with the girls).

LEAGUE
The only thing that matters is that you find a good match FOR YOU.  Some men travel looking for the hottest skirt they can find.  Some are successful in THAT search.  Some are not.  I think a serious bloke will have different things they're looking for.

I'd suggest you write down everything that's important to you (and why) and keep referring back to it throughout your journey.  I did and it helped me keep a level head.

Personally (and everyone is different), the main things I was seeking were character traits, values and goals... I was looking for someone that complimented me and someone I could share my goals with.  Of course looks were important but if you're more general (not prescriptive) when it comes to looks and more specific about values I believe you'll find someone compatible AND beautiful.  Beauty is easy to find in FSU - but it's not the thing that will make you successful.

MEETING GIRLS
There's MANY different ways to do this...  At the end of the day the most important thing is doing something that suits your personal style and comfort - and being cautious throughout.

Again, welcome...  and feel free to ask all of those crazy questions that will come up.

Kuna
