No action here?
« on: June 06, 2005, 06:08:05 AM »
A friend has recently joined RWD but he thinks there is not much action here at the moment.

Could someone please make a very controversial post or post something that will elicit a lot of responses?

If I can come up with something and not run the risk of making Dan angry I will post it.

This is a board of many personalities and lets not let it get in the way of our posting. I personally don't dislike anyone here only some people have different personalities and approaches I may not agree with. I don't agree with my friends 100% of the time but I still like them.

 No reason not to post.

Son of Clyde,

Please read my last two posts to anono's T/R.

Many times I do post in an effort to spur critical thinking, to make men look within for answers, rather than blindly subscribe to the MOB myths.

This is a site where a man can get plain answers to the real questions about AM/RW relationships, the truth, in a desert of mis-information, so to speak.  If your friend finds this board bland and unexciting, perhaps he'd be happier over on the RWG.

So be it.

jb, Bruno makes a valid point.  I believe that this is a side effect of "Re-Focusing."  Why waste my time and efforts to have it all censored and erased?  Even if anano and PhotoGuy asked for their threads to be removed, certainly the other people who posted in those threads did not request for it.  If you say something in life you regret saying, you don't get an opportunity to retract it.  The Internet?  It must be truly amazing.

Open and honest discussion?  My @ss...  :X

Controversial enough for you?

Offering a choice of topics for discussion

1. Landfill women and their main properties.

2. Women from Moscow and their great advantage over the rest of landfill.

3. Marriage agencies are terrible meat market

4. Pre-nups and as.holes who use them

If anybody simply needs to be insulted, help yourselves -  I am in a mood. First 10 insults -  for free.

I've often heard that Moscow women are spoiled and should be avoided like the plague.  :-p

Personally, I have no experience with Moscow women, and have no opinion on the topic.

Let's see. We could have two main categories:

1- Trip Reports
In this section, you could begin a new topic which would be your trip report, free from comments, insults, advice, etc. You could read the guy's report and and not be allowed to post replies. This would allow a trip report to exist without all the trash. The TR would be closed to all members except for the report's owner.

and a new category:

2- Comments about Trip Reports
In this section, you could freely spur people on or hit them in the head with a bat, or even give civilized advice. It would be a section for debate, heated discussion, whatever...and should be self-policed to eliminate personal attacks.  Dan's moderation would undoubtedly need to focus on this particular section.

What do you think?

Photo,

I've mentioned it before.. If someone starts a TR and states they want no comments from other posters, his/her wish will likely be respected. Someone may post but it would not be one of the seasoned guys or gals around here.

About comment of other poster on TR, i don't think that the original poster need to state that he don't wish comment...

But by respect, other poster need to allow him finish his trip report... and after, the comment are welcome... comment on a story are welcome when the story is finish and not when people know only some part...

And in any case, if someone don't wish comment, he can always ask for close the topic at the end... i say close, not delete it...

And about my own TR, i have ask comment ( no attack )... and i was surprised... very few people ( JB is one of them, he win some respect from me ) have see the real problem in my trip... a lot have make comment like "what a beautiful TR"... comment who learn nothing to newbies... so i wait a little more days... and after, i go make my own comments... not the positive one but these who can help newbies to learn all my mistakes... and not copy them...

Clyde, it seem that you have start your own controversial post...

'Nothing' would be my answer.

I don't know how do Moscow women, looking for a foreign husband compare to women from other cities, as I've never been in this game, but generally speaking I wouldn't say that women from Moscow are the most beautiful in the whole of Russia, and there is no statistics showing that they make they make the best wives and mothers. They are more assertive, confident and definitely more feminist than the others, and do consider themselves superior to people from small towns (NB: Rudy's mother from 'Moscow doesn't believe in tears'). Moscovites always looked down on people from 'provinciya'.   No offense to Elena and Mrs Pedro, but I don't get why are they all of sudden the best?  (C'mon guys, shouldn't you be standing up for your wives and girlfiends, who don't come from the capital?)

Though I understand you, jb, that you must be very proud of your wife, and no surprise you consider her the best! :D

Donna,

No need to duck, Doug Salem has already taken a number of shots at me over this "Moskovichka vs. village girl" issue.  He doesn't impress me too much.  Nor does he understand the value of wooing and winning a Moskovichka, where you actually win 1st prize, as opposed to going to the village and settling for a consolation prize.  :):):)

Yes, I remember that. If I could have predicted my ability to attract such tough love, I would've gone for that option. No doubt about it.
Hey - live and learn, right? I've also learned that posting a photo can mean something entirely different from what I intended. Hey, another  lesson learned.

Last summer i was talking to a friend in Odesa and she asked me what the differences were between Ukr. women and american women? I gave her some examples and then I asked her what the differences were between Ukr. women and Russian women? She had one example....ru. women keep dirty houses. I thought wow, that's as bad as the rift between Texans and Arkies.

Bruno,

I gave this very issue some considerable thought prior to deleting anono's entire topic.

The basic questions comes down to; "Once someone posts a topic on the RWD, who owns that topic and the contents of the topic?"

My sense is that the topic and contents are the property of RWD - though RWD is not responsible for any defamatory or illegal content.

In this instance, the topic had created so much animosity and generated so much ill will, I decided to honor anono's wishes and delete the topic.

Tell you what - how would you (and others) feel about the following 'guideline':

"Topics and individual posts on RWD are available for editing and/or deletion by the original posting member for a 12-hour period following their post. After that 12-hour period, the topic can only be deleted by the board moderator. Board moderator will only delete the topic in instances where illegal activity or the danger of physical harm are demonstated."

Based on our recent exchanges, I predict we will not arrive at a consensus on the topic, but unless I hear some compelling argument to convince me otherwise, the guideline as written will become my policy for moderation.

In anticipate some will ask about why individual members are not allowed to edit/delete their posts whenever they wish. The answer is; it is unfair to other members who have taken the time to respond - just as it was unfair to Bruno and all the others who had made the time to respond to anono's topic.

I said in another thread that we are a 'community' here - and this is but one example of that.

Let me know what you think.

- Dan
