Well, I can say that I feel in no way disrespected or humiliated by photos of other sexy RW posted on this board.  ;D  If I was, I'd be looking deep into my self-esteem and trying to correct something there.

even if you cought a pic of yourself or your friend adjusting your blouse with comments? No need to go into "self esteem" here, it has nothing to do with it ;-)

First off, it's very difficult to "catch" me with indecent exposure, as I'm generally very careful with my clothing and appearance.  Second, suppose I'm caught off-guard and then find the picture of me posted on the internet and see that it's rather clumsy; the most I'll do is contact the photographer privately and ask to take it off.  As for pictures of others, I really couldn't care less!

marusya,
I do think Blues Fairy has a point and I will use myself as an example.  If I was offended by every nasty remark made here about older men marrying younger RW, I would be in a constant state of anger.  I am not because of the confidence I have in my relationship with Lena.

Look, boys will be boys and that includes a certain amount of objectification of women when it comes to sexuality.  It is a natural instinct to search for the prettiest (sexiest) woman available.  No amount of talk will ever change it.  Is it shallow?  Perhaps, but it still is instinctive.  Just as it is instinctive for women to think long and hard about how good of a provider their man will be.  I am sure that there are many discussions regarding that issue too.  It is a natural order to things as I see it.

This is just a photo report of what men would likely see on the streets of Kiev (and what they would be looking to see).  I know that I would have loved to have had this information before I traveled to Russia as I had so many unanswered questions.

Ken, if we excuse our behaviour by gender and "instincts" (I guess it was my mistake to think of all of us as people, first of all) then girls will be girls and will discuss each other's fashion flaws, (as they did on russian fiancee and no husbands can get upset on this site  :D (Jet, this is not my way of thinking, I'm just following Ken's "boys will be boys" logic)

marusya,
I am sure you can see the difference between posting photos of street scenes with anonymous women from a cruel dissection of a member's wife here.  That is way too personal and mean spirited IMO.

What is the difference? What makes them anonymous? Only that they are not aware that someone took pictures posted and commented "funny"? Did they have a choice to not be posted? How do you know we don't recognize someone we know in these pictures?

Because by now - with all the expressed outrage - I feel pretty confident that any person who was photographed, and felt offended by it, would have contacted me.

Nobody has contacted me.

If you are serious, just send a PM to one of the ladies who came from that forum and ask for the link.

No need to bugger up the open forum.

What is the difference?
Huge difference IMO.  Like night and day.  One is showing appreciation in a complimentary way and the other is a vindictive attack in attempt to belittle.

Quote
What makes them anonymous?

We don't know them and they don't know us.
Quote
Only that they are not aware that someone took pictures posted and commented "funny"?

The comments were limited and not vindictive in any way that I read.  The photos were complimentary to the women's attractiveness.
Quote
Did they have a choice to not be posted?

Probably not, but I really wonder how many would truly object?  These women dressed in a way to attract attention (and they did).  They were not degraded, only complimented.
Quote

Do you?  ;D  I think not.  And I am sure if any of them objected, Dan would remove them immediately.

Marusya,
I think your argument would have much more credibility if these photos were held up to ridicule the women, but they were not.  I understand that there are certain issues of privacy being skirted here by the author, but then again, I see no harm being done to the ladies in the photos.  Only positive compliments.  It is one man reporting back to the men here via his photos.  His message is clear: guys look at all the beautiful women walking the streets of Kiev.  Just an appreciation of the beautiful women on the streets of Kiev. No more, no less.

(It is funny that no one is coming to the aide of the skinheads also in the photos)

Ken, lets put it this way. None of you would try this with american women outside in the streets of US - to go take pics of attractive women with short skirts (there are plenty here) and put comments down, even if there were curious people willing to take a glance who have never been to certain part of US.

marusya,
Oh, how wrong you are!  How you think these ladies Russian nationality has anything to do with whether they were photographed or not, is so far off the mark that it is almost funny.  For example, my son would bring back some amazing photos of beautiful bikini clad girls from his Spring Break vacations.  When women "strut their stuff" it is for the men to pay attention, and we do (and some snap a photo or two also)

Now if someone wants to make a profit from photos/video ala "Girls Gone Wild" it is a whole different set of circumstances. :hairraising:

I hope the women pose for the picture, not just walk by when your son takes pic of them. It is not the same when you are at the beach with your friends and everybody is in bikini, or you walk down the street and pick out women with nice body, wait till they look away and take a shot. I see the difference. Do you?

marusya,
The girls in my son's photos were strangers too(but not for long!)

This has been interesting, marusya.  I see your point of view and do not agree and I am unable to convince you of my view point too.  We will just have to agree to disagree.

The Pectoral found at Tovsta Moyyla is said to have been made during the mid 4th century.

"Tovsta (or in Russian Tolstaya) Mohyla" is more correct. Mohyla is a grave.

This is a photo of that grave where the Scythian pectoral was found in 1971 by Boris Mozolyevsky (a Ukrainian archaeologist) who led the expedition.

I don't know about his daughter-in-law, but King Gustav VI was often poking the dirt here, particularly in Tuscany IIRC, although I'm hard put to visualise his (2nd) wife, Lady Louise Mountbatten, in skimpy clothes (not that I would like to, either :( ;)).
