I am new to the site so I thought I better make the obilgatory introduction post. 

In a nutshell, I met my future wife whilst working in Russia and just about to go through the whole visa process!

I'm especially keen to hear from other Aussies who have been through the process.

You might want to seek out threads started by your fellow countrymen here, Kuna and I/O.  They are both prolific writers and both have "marrage threads" going right now.

We are a nosy bunch here too, so spill it with your story.  "Met a gal while working in Russia" just aint gonna cut it here.

OK....she was dancing in a strip club when......nah just kidding! 

We met through a colleague of mine who was seeing a friend of hers. At first it was just a meeting and that was that. After a few more meetings the relationship blossomed and moved in together a little while later.

Due to work/personal commitments I came back to Australia and convinced her to come with me but alas it is currently on a tourist visa which runs out next year and she will be forced to return to Russia and we will need to commence the whole prospective spouse process.

OK guys now I have confirmed who this is, I was 99% sure but needed him to pass the locality test first, he is a quiet guy so I will spill his guts for him.

He knows the oil industry pretty well (If you are listening JB), cooks one helluva BBQ and his other half is a lovely lady. Our respective womenfolk hooked up through another forum and over the last month or so we have all spent a couple of weekends together which have been absolutely enjoyable. There is very few people in this world I invite into my home but these are two people who are welcome anytime. This guy passed the I/O character test upon the first handshake, a rare event.

An unpretentious guy of the calibre I would like to see a much higher percentage involved in the pursuit of Russian women. I would suggest both he and his other half would be considered bloody good catches by the respective groups. As we say down here, the man is no fool.
