WHAT Michael!  You see a heading reading 'Agencies are bad news'  and think your going to read things posted about agencies?

Well, it did start out that way, an interesting post. Then low and behold about the time we get a Sex, drugs, rock and roll comment we hear about everyone from Guy Lombardo, Duran Duran, Weather Report, Steely Dan, Led Zeppelin, Joe Walsh, Rick Astley, The Who, Thomas Dolby, Flock of Seagulls, Spandau Ballet, Level 42, Eagles, Rappers are sucking hind tit (got that right), Elvis Costello, Van Morrison, Graham Parker, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Roger McGuinn, Peter Buck, ZZ Top to Little Feat don't fail me now.

All interesting stuff.

Did someone say something about a new moderator? If their were ever a good reason for a moderator, here's a perfect example. A good thread getting completely of course. Couldn't the moderator relocate the post's that have nothing to do with the subject thread?  This is how a lot of good threads get screwed up.

Sorry, Jack. Maybe there should be a music section or a non RW discussion thread.

I'm a musician and got carried away.

Jack,

Can't move individual posts - only an entire topic. I can, of course, delete individual posts - but that is unnecessary.

The biggest problem comes from 'thread drift' - when posts start to slowly drift off the original topic. It often happens slowly, and without constant monitoring (I am STILL taking donations to pay for that full-time board monitor :D ), the topic slowly moves to a different focus.

To some extent, we will just have to live with the small attention spans from many member of RWD  (joke . joke).

Have you checked out the new Nikon D-70S? It's gonna ruin Cannon's whole day.

We just bought one, I'll let you know how it works out.

Me & digital cameras have a silent agreement...I don't use 'em & they don't screw up on me!!!;)

I'll stick to a 35mm, no muss no fuss.

Dan is right.  And to prove it, here is a shot made with my Cannon Rebel in Kharkov in May.  We'll keep this post on topic by my sharing that an agency interpt took the shot :)

That's a really ****ty picture.  ;)

Don't misunderstand me.  I don't have a problem with Cannon cameras, they take pretty good snapshots.  After all, it's just a jpeg image on your computer, and any 2 megga pixel camera will do a great job of that.  The problem I have is when you attempt to enlarge the image in .raw format and print a 11x17 picture to hang on the wall.  That's where Nikon and Nikkor demonstrate their superior edge to edge and edge to corner quality.

Nobody makes a superior lens to Nikkor.

Being a Nikon man for 20 years, I WAS going to buy Nikon digital. So was making comparisons as to best Nikon cameras to buy and while comparing noticed how Canon was a little better at this or that. This lead me into a new direction, learning about, reading up on Canon, but I was still going to buy Nikon, heck, have thousands invested in Nikon lenses.

So I went to the camea store, held the D70, held the 20D. Took photos with the Nikon D70, took photos with the Canon D20,..WHOAAAAAAA, wow, what a shocker, what a surprise! The quality of the canon photo compared to nikon,..wow! how did this happen. This 20 year die-hard nikon man was shocked!!

So I bought the best camera on the market at the time, as I poured out thousands more in new lense's, sorry to say that nikon's D70 just couldn't compete with the new Canon 20D.

My Cannon Rebel is a 6.3 megapixel....it prints movie size posters with clarity....I have sold magazine covers and textook covers with shots made with that camera...and it just cost a thousand bucks:D  The update of this camera is 8.0 megapixel:shock:

Now if I were there, it would all be in scale.

I'm 6'4", and my wife's 6'.

(And ofcourse, I wouldn't have shot the picture from such a low perspective and so far away... ;) )

Conner,

We are fully aware that if you showed up at the border with a sharpened stick, both France and Belgum would surrender without a fight.  But how would you shrink the church? :D

What was in that bottle that Alice had in Wonderland?  (No, wait.  That made her smaller...)

As a photographer, you know it's all a matter of angle and perspective.  A common problem with most snapshot photographers (especially in the FSU, where you MUST be sure to get everyone's shoes in the picture) is failing to get close enough to your subject.

(Oh, and back on topic -- All agencies aren't that bad.  Some are.  But then, so are some of their clients... ) ;)

I don't have a problem with agencies, many of them provide absolutely essential services to the new first time traveler. Many men couldn't do without them.  Just be sure where your agency is placing their interest vs. yours.

Is it over, or under?  Kinda important to know.

I think the agency stole my camera!  Well, at least the interpreter did:dude:

I am glad I used an agency on my first visit...I needed them.  Now, I can choose and pick their services...
