RW Visiting Italy
« on: March 22, 2008, 06:49:50 AM »
Probably mainly for Sandro and or BC.

Visa requirements for RW to visit Italy. Short stay, non work Rah Rah. Desto Milan. Any advice, information, links to sites or Embassy links would be appreciated. Recommended airlines ex Moscow etc etc. I'm too lazy to search on behalf of another so any info I can pass on would be appreciated.

Visa requirements for a Tourist visa for Schengen countries, including Italy:
- Not posing a threat to national security.
- Having enough funds to pay for all incurring costs of the trip
- Having credible reasons not to abuse the tourist visa as a means of (illegal) immigration.

Should the RW be married to a Ozzie, the visa will probably be just a matter of going through the procedure.
Tourist visa for Schengen are not hard to obtain, we met (real) tourists from Russia in about any public venue last year.

For starters:

http://www.ambmosca.esteri.it/Ambasciata_Mosca/Menu/Informazioni_e_servizi/Visti/

http://www.esteri.it/MAE/EN/Ministero/Servizi/Stranieri/ServReteConsolare.htm

daily direct flights to/from Moscow either to/from Milan and Rome.  www.alitalia.com  Prices normally around 350 EUR

Aeroflop also has flights.

Some charter services available from other RU cities to other cities in IT.

Suggest Alitalia as there probably won't be much price difference with others.

Used to be some really cheap flights around 150 EUR RT, but haven't seen any such lately.

I was in Venice with Anna a few day ago. She will need a Shengen visa, that's all. Visa can be issued by another country.

Anna had a business visa for Denmark, her entry point in Shengen space was in France and we have flown to Italy...

If she is requesting a shengen visa, the best for her is to go with a travel agency. Book a cheap package and agency will do all procedure for her. one time in Italy , she can travel with you.

I/O, as mentioned before, booking the trip through a Russian travel agency should take care of visa issues.

Is she worth my volunteering as an escort/guide in Milan ?

Sorry I/O,
But while all these visa experts gather around your question, I have one slightly off your topic. ;D

Does anyone know if France has changed their visa requirements for Russians?  Last summer my MIL and FIL had planned to take Lena on a trip to France but they were told that the Shegen visa was no longer acceptable.  They were told that the new visa requirements for France included medical reports and a whole slew of additional information and much difficulty.  Were my in laws misled?

France is still part of Schengen, there for visa rules apply. However every country has the right to add things to their own visa procedure. I have not seen any evidence that France asks the information you mentioned

For tourist and business visa, normal Schengen rules will apply for russian. for others type of visits, I don't know.

If you do this you will not get another schengen visa from that country easily next time - they will want to see their issued visa and stamps to prove u used it their country.

Seeing it loads now - we EU'ers get free schengen visas for our spouses, but not if u don't go to the issueing country for first visa or at least land there, French are worst...

It depends... it was business visa. In this domain there is not one rule. She has already applied for her next visa, 2 entries during 6 months.

Ken: Be not sorry Bro, if any thread elicits useful information on the general subject, it gets my tick of approval. None of us know when these things may be useful to us, although I can't see my advising anyone on a trip to France anytime soon. >:(

Sandro, at 37 and on last scant visual, having what I believe to be all the right things in all the right places and some of those in ample portion, I'd say yes. ;D Dunno where this one is going, will keep you informed if or when travel plans materialise. I try to stay right out of it when women are organising things. They usually end up coming to me when it becomes too difficult, but there is no point in telling them that early. Some things, they gotta figure out for themselves. ;D

My wife and I were in Pompei last December when we noticed a Russian tour group being lead around by a very animated Russian guide.  I encouraged my wife to walk within earshot so I didn't have to answer my wife's questions, "Shto eto, a shto eto, a eto bilo shto?"

After about a half hour, one of the ladies from tour group walked over to me and said, "Hello Ronnie, remember me?"  :exploding:Smoke was coming my wife's ears as I stammered,,"Uhhh, do I know you?"  "It's me, Galina!"  Now I was really in trouble as I recognized her face but couldn't place her.

Finally, she said, "from Fremont (California)".  :whew: Whew! I was off the hook as I realized she had been one of a circle of Russian friends living the Bay Area, that I had met at a social gathering while my wife was visiting Ukraine.  She had later left her husband (RM) and returned to Russia.

Anyway, I learned that getting a visa for single RW is best accomplished by buying a tour package.
