PS - Blues, are you sure you're using the term "demogogue" properly?

Ronnie, you looked up demagogue, not demogogue.  :P

I'm still waiting for the apology, Ronnichka.   :rolleyes2:
Whaaaaat?  I thought we kissed and made up.  You mean on top of all that, I have to apologize too?  Well, okay Oooopsie, you're right, I was wrong..I'll never be bad again (how am I doing so far?)..oh, and If I ever compare you to Hitler again, I promise I'll go stand in the corner and repeat "arbeit macht frei" five thousand times and then I'll lie down on the ground and you can stand on my head with those shiney jack er..Christian Louboutin boots.  Ouch!

Think that's what Bluesie was trying to tell me in her soft feminine way.  Oh well, if you never use the word, you don't have to know how to spell it, right?

The topic seems to be a classic example of Godwin's Law played out.

The last couple of pages have served, IMO, little to add to the collective knowledge of the topic. I think it was BillyB who noted that topics like these can inflame passions in a way that demonstrate how little tolerance we have for others with opposing views, and how quickly, and sadly, these things can result in the loss of respect for one another.

I am inclined now to close this topic. If anyone has any closing comments, please make them very soon while it is still open.

Under Dutch law abortion is allowed in cases where the pregnancy is unwanted or dangerous. The woman has the right to decide this.
The discussion on when a cell becomes a living being is one that will be hard to prove from either side. In any case abortion should never become as common as anti conception, and both women and men should be aware that breaking off a pregnancy is not something done lightly. There should be strong social or medical reasons which endanger the mental or physical health of mother or child.

I could understand the religious objections, if they would manage to practice what they preach. If there would be no sex outside marriage, then there might be less situations in which an abortion would be wanted.  That would leave only very clear cut cases of medical need or in cases of pregnancy because of rape.  For both, I would still agree with the possibility of abortion.
