I also see him as very very lucky to have escaped with only loosing 200k over 3 years in his adventure. Life could have been much worse.

HiTech

Elena jumped up from the sofa started screaming at me in russian and then jumped on me and grabbed me by the neck and started choking me, after about 5 seconds she let go of me. i could only think to call 911, i grabbed my cell phone ran outside got in the car locked the doors and then called 911. Soon Elena and sasha ran from the house down the driveway.  Elena was yelling in her meek timid voice NEIGHBORS HELP ME. The police soon arrived and i explained the situation. the officers while they were talking to me got a call from the dispatch on their radio of a woman and child at the local gas station who called 911 that said she was assulted by her husband. The police explained to me after sometime that my wife had bruises and scratches on her neck, i was arrested and went to jail for the evening. I am out now on bond and i have not seen Elena or Sasha since. I assumed they went to stay with Elena's cousin Aleksandra who lives in Des moines with her husband, She also is from Russia.

I had avoided reading this thread because the title rubbed me the wrong way.. but.. tonight I decided I had to see what all the pages of conversation were about.

goUSA I have few words for you except.. you got what you deserved.  Seems to me you had a precious treasure and you were clueless about how to nurture it.   :cluebat:  :wallbash:  :-[ :o >:(

I think this story is less a lesson for men than it is for women.

This is true of anyone with any assets at all.  You just can't be married.  It's black and white.   It's a little bit better in Nevada and California from what I understand.

That sums it up quite nicely. I refused to marry without a pre-nup.  8)

dobradavid, is there any thread, no matter how ancient or unrelated to the topic, that you won't jump in on and try to insert your already quite clear views on pre-nups?  It's getting old and starting to look like an obsession.

Intersting thread. I grew up in a small town in Iowa. Population 500. I know exactly what kind of man gousa is. Even the fat local dumb girls dont want them. Shopping for clothes at Goodwill, keeping everybody elses garbage. I wish I could see a picture of his house, but I guess I dont have to I know already what it would look like. Junk would fill every nook and cranny and I can say for sure his furniture was not bought new. Even if he comes back to say he did buy it new I would not believe him. My God, I can just imagine bringing a Russian woman who has some class to a place like that:   Then tell her she should get clothes at Goodwill, and I know he told her to do that   Oh and the hot young Siberian bartender is interested in him. Hey, Gousa, I got news for you, a good bartender will make you think that. A man that it supposed to be worth a lot of money shops for clothes at Goodwill says it all.

I once only jokingly suggested that my wife buy some clothes ast Goodwill and Mt St Helen's was a pimple in comparison.  It took several trips to Nordstroms to get out of that one.

Fortunately, not all Russian women are cut from the same cloth. My wife discovered a very large second-hand clothing store close to home. You can find clothes that are in brand new. Yesterday, for example, I found a Tommy Hilfiger shirt that was brand new (the pins were still in the shirt, that cost me less than $4. I saw a similar shirt online at the Tommy store for $88. My wife and I have much better places where we can spend $84 (+ the extra taxes). She is the one who insists that we go shopping at the used clothing store to save money.

Ah, taxes!  It's been three years, but Marina still gets mad when she has to pay $10.80 for an item that cost $10.  In Ukraine, tax is included in the price.  Not so here.

lol... you'd be surprised. My sister and her husband... well, make that my sister and her husband by, um, persuasion (who always seems to buy something after being 'persuaded' to go) hit second hand shops all the time.  Their net worth would astound most people (it sure as hell astounds me).  They blow some serious cash on big toys but penny pinch most other things like you would not believe.  Rather strange dichotomy but it seems to work for them.  As for me, I don't penny pinch anything from Goodwill... I just crawl inside the drop boxes at night.  ;D

Why strange? Penny pinching where you can allows you to save money that you can spend on bigger toys.

This is a hilarious thread.

You should post more.

Sorry, but for some reason I cant get the vision of his Russian wifes reaction when he took her to Goodwill to shop for clothes out of my head.

ONCE, I attempted to interest my wife in a fine sable jacket at an estate auction.  She would not even look at it, saying it was used.  That was pride more than anything, and RW grew up long on pride (and short on cash).

It took several trips to Nordstroms to get out of that one.

Know the feeling.  I had to follow a two-step retribution.  First, Nordstroms for shoes.  Second,  at the other end of the mall Needless Markup (otherwise known as Neiman Markus).
Misha, no offense intended, but I think if you ever walked into the latter you would have a seizure.  BTW, the punishment worked because I am careful now with my suggestions.

I am just saying that not all Russian women are the same. Though, I am always fascinated by the way that the men here try to create the mystique of the Russian woman  :rolleyes2:

Doll:

What is JJ?  Is this some sort of parent code thing I should know?

Simoni:

I am starting to think this is getting quite strange.  I also love to shop at Ross's, TJ Max, Marshalls, and off the rack.  I but good clothes, but pay probably 1/3 what my friends do.  Shoes, though is a different story.  I get the best shoes, when they have a decent sale.

I guess my spidy senses were pretty good, it seems myself and many Russian woman have similar interests and now shopping habits.  The always have name brands there, and it is way better pricing.  The hunt is half the fun.

It is my coping mechanism to having to shop for myself.

My Valentines Day gift was giving her the money for spring shoes.  She is on cloud 9.

Truth hurts.   Recently I was decieved again, when she recently  contacted me she was all lovey dovey, saying that she still loves me and still wants to spend her life with me.   But she also said she needs another letter of recomendation for the USCIS because they were getting ready to deport her.

You aren't too bright about people, are you?  ;D
