If Russia invades Georgia what would make them stop with that and invade Ukraine.  If Ukraine would be next, the obvious city would be my Kharkov which is right on the border.  How concerned are you guys knowing you have gf's and in-laws in Ukraine?

Here's a well-written article that parallels my impressions of Russia.  Though it was written in December, it helps one to understand the Kremlin's actions and why it has isolated itself in the world community.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/from_our_own_correspondent/7144560.stm

Basically the difference between Americans and Russians boils down to how each deals with criticism, and Lord knows, both countries are on the receiving end of more criticism than all other countries combined.

Americans deal with that criticism with a debate mentality.  Offering points and/or counter points.  If the criticism is not fact based, but a purely emotional or silly premise, they just let it sail past without much notice.

Russia has shown that it takes extreme offense at every hint of criticism or perceived slight.  She bows her back and lashes out with her claws and teeth like a wounded animal.

In the final analysis it comes down to a nation that is confident in itself on the one hand, as compared to a nation suffering from a massive inferiority complex on the other.

How does anyone repair the psyche of an entire disfunctional nation?  The miraculous work must come from leaders who are completely dissimilar to those currently entrenched behind the red brick walls.

I have seen how America reacts on criticism regarding Afghanistan and Iraq.
First they wave reports that turn out later to be false.
Then they point at WWII and how they saved the world.
Finally they tell : if you are not with us, you are against us.

Russia goes to step 3 without the previous BS.

Ukraine is safe until 2015 when the lease on the Kremlin expires. By that time the Government will probably be pro-Russian.
