The Future of Cold Feet Syndrome

I have to admit that I do not followed this board as I used to.  I don't even follow the news closely these days.  I have been traveling / living in the Caribbean and South America (Colombia).  I will continue doing so throughout this year.

I could not help but notice, however, that I am getting many more introduction emails from services I have subscribed to in the past. 

And thus the reason for this post: I wonder if the recent volatility and tensions between Russia and her neighbors may be bringing an end to the positive "esprit de corps" that fueled a recent post that suggested that Russian ladies were more content to stay home.

Any observations / opinions?

Well, the Russian economy is not making life easy for a lot of Russians. Inflation this past year has been rampant and is eating away into the earnings of ordinary Russians. My wife sees it this summer. In last years, she would always have friends taking vacations to Turkey. This summer, not one. With inflation, money is getting tighter. Sure, the inflation won't hurt as much the elite, but will pinch those at the lower end of the Russian "middle-class." I.e. those who could not afford to go the Canary Islands, but could scrimp and save to fly to Turkey once a year. Their standard of living is going down.

Also, the quality of steel is coming to end in Ukraine (not Russia).  A weak Euro right now is also hurting as it was mostly Europeans buying expensive apartments for investment.

However, the rich will get richer in Ukraine and the poor will be in worse shape.
