Mail Order Bride Stories - about those we laugh at...

I suspect most of us that have been at this awhile have people come up and make stupid comments to us.  Thoughts I'd share something similar, and perhaps start an amusing thread.

I received an e-mail from my next-door neighbor this week.  She told me a friend of a co-worker was having problems finding a Mail-Order-Bride, heard I was successful, and wanted to know what web site he should visit to find "the good ones"...

Of course, I couldn't let this go, so asked a few more questions.  Apparently this 42 yo guy fell in love with a lady from the islands.  Visited her once, filed the K-1 (I presume), and went over there to pick her up.  THEN he found out she was 17...  How do you get to the point of bringing a lady over and never asking her birthdate, much less visiting a lady and not having a clue?  I'm told his response was "They all look young over there".

I suggest the Internet was full of advice on how to proceed safely, and hinted that I spent 4-6 hours a day for three months before writing my first letter.  I'm told "oh... he would never do that... just tell him where the goods ones are so that he doesn't have to go through all that."

I agree with you. It makes me very angry when I speak of my girl and someone makes a remark "mail order bride". I play stupid and ask " what is that?" and act like I have never heard of it before and let them show me their ignorance on the subject. For some reason this usually shuts them up.

Anyone got any good war stories about clueless idiots they may have met on a plane of in the FSU? You know, old fat lard-arses with mullets and a 17 yo looker on his arm.

I need cheering up, courtesy of a $300 mobile phone bill this month, aren't daughters wonderful? Hearing tales of other peoples laughable attempts to get a MOB/RW might stop me from putting her up for adoption.

My actual lady is too much heavy to be a MOB... the limit of our Belgium post for package is 50 kg and her weight is 52 kg... :D:D

Goombah, maybe it is the reason the friend of your neighbor have choice one young woman ( 17 y.o ), usualy, they are more light... he hope maybe receive it by post :D

I met a guy in his early thirties, overweight, loud talking and sitting next to me on my return trip home.

The Russian woman he met in Moscow after a little while with him told him that her grandmother had an emergency and she had to return to her city. He waited 3 days for her to contact him but she never did.

The next young woman came to him with her mother in tow. He told me that he taught the mother and daughter how to do "shots" with a lemon and salt. He said he thought he made a good impression with this as they laughed allot but they disappeared on him like his first lady did only without an excuse.

So he was rather glum about his Russian experience.

Could be...  I'm still stunned this came to him as a surprise.  His only defense was "they all look young over there"...

Think about this.  At no point prior to coming to get her did he ever ask about life after high school?  Work history?  Hell... dating history? (OK, maybe she has dated since age 12, so bad example).

For Ste:  Sorry, the best I can do is recall feeling ashamed to be an American based on some of the "fellow Americans" I met on the hunt...  Oh, I have one, although I may have mentioned it already:

A local computer operator (eg. $30K/year) guy talked a beautiful lady into coming here.  She lasted 731 days.  Apparently didn't like living in a small home and not having a pocket full of money.  He was pretty philsophical about it - he had two great years with her.

On a trip to Lugansk,
I saw a fat guy wearing a faded felt cowboy hat and faded shirt both looked
20 years old, walking hand in hand with a 6ft tall girl who was at most was
twenty years old, she looked less interested in him than she would be in a
toilet seat in a Mexican strip club.

To be honest I don't really have any stories of men that I came into contact with who were bad in some obviously bad way. I can only recall a Chinese guy of perhaps thirties across the breakfast dining hall in Hotel Ukraine during my stay there. He was holding a single Rose and looked forlorn, I guess things didn't work out for him with a Ukrainian girl I guess.

Brings the point up that many things can be seen as a negative by Ukraine women, for him being Chinese was probably seen as a negative, a shame as nothing else obviously amiss with him. Being a certain race & skin colour you can't really change but weight you can.

I think in your example Bill what if the Cowboy guy had invested in an expensive suit that was well tailored, a bit of bling and any other touch ups to make him look better. Sometimes a guy can have negatives but if they can be offset by a positive then it can turn it around. Can't always be the case as it can depend upon the woman but putting in an effort to look good could mean better results.

I remember my in Odessa I saw some young US guys fairly muscular with singlet type of tops fairly gregarious sounding. Possibly could have been sec tourists or mistaken for some. In the lounge bar at Odessa Airport waiting for my flight on the way back their were a few older US guys perhaps forties or older who may have been in the scene, They didn't come across as real bad or anything fairly everyday and their experiences seemed to vary, I can't recall anything stand out.

My flight to Minsk in Belarus was different, this time it seemed to be dominated by UK guys sitting near me. Nothing bad to say of them they seemed to be into the scene. They were mostly near my age, possibly a few years younger. One guy commented to another how he would say he worked in Accounts so the girl would think he was an Accountant, but of course he was not just a basic Accounts Clerk. Another guy much younger probably around mid twenties passed over on the free courtesy bread buns, a wise choice as they turned out to be tasteless and so pointless carbs. Perhaps he was in tune with how athletic Belarusians seem to be over there, he wasn't heavily built fairly lean.

In general I think threads like this highlight how a guy needs to be in tune with not just what he wants but what the girl wants. If a guy is looking for a girl to be serious he needs to look the part, to come across well. Some guys who are well overweight can probably see the FSU as a place where women will readily accept them without realising that they still need to put in some work to stand much chance of it working out. That can go for many guys in general even us slimmer ones and in general I probably didn't get a good enough grasp of it quick enough, but I was starting from a place of not much experience.

That was probably true, they have those girls over there and some guys are unsuspecting as they act like they are into the guy to some extent. Some girls are better actresses but usually it doesn't all quite add up. Even the girls that are a bit more obvious the guy probably just wants to believe so much that it is for real. It's not nice for those girls to have those guys on who are unaware as many of those guys problems or not probably went there genuinely hoping to meet a girl who would be into him.

I fully agree that meeting a good girl who is into you is the way to go, or at least a girl who is good to you as she is into you.

I think a lot of guys that go for/accept much younger girls who are out of their league kind of think it's possible in Ukraine, Russia, etc. They don't really get that it doesn't work quite like that, that Ukraine, Russia, etc aren't in another dimension where all of their negatives no longer inhibit their chances   in dating and as a Westerner they can go for any girl. Ukraine, Russia, etc are still going to have a sense of reality it's just that it's a bit easier dating there than at home, expecting too much can lead the average Western guy into a bad place. Some guys can genuinely get girls with big age gaps but there is usually more going on there that other guys don't realise.
