 If I wanted to turn it that way I could take your last post as being highly sarcastic and in that light saying the exact opposite of what you conveyed in writing. Partly due to the big red text and partly due to the repeating of the theme.

 I did not do that (just like I did not take Gator's comments as a slam at you in any way) as I will take you at your word that you realize that you jumped to a conclusion that was off base due to your feelings about Gator.

 Being guilty of following that same jumping to a conclusion pattern myself I can only say that it would have been so much easier and less confrontational if you had simply asked Gator what he meant by the words that upset you.

 I've never met Gator in person (though I would be quite happy to if the situation arises) but have had a fair bit of contact with him over the last couple (few maybe) years here and in my opinion he is one of the few true high quality individuals that comes along in these forums.

Those patterns of behavior most certainly influence the 'filter' I apply when I see what someone writes. When that pattern is one of combative behavior, I quickly notice the hints and glimpses that foretell the next conflagration.

Mark, I've always been "straight" with you. If anything was "aimed" at you, you would have known it - clearly. My comments were exactly as I stated them to be - they were general in nature. If you interpreted them to be directed at you, that speaks as much to your perceptions and interpretations as it does to anything I wrote - maybe more.

Maybe they are misconceptions. Maybe it is a difference in SOH. Having spent a BUNCH of time with a customer in Swindon, I still count a number of friends there, and seem to have no "problem" at all with their SOH. I doubt my "problem" is even remotely related to the fact of someone being a "Brit" Mark.

I will say in Gators defense.  He's heard the remarks, ( I think)  and if he comes back to defend his position, then he is welcome to do so in my thread.  But my best guess is that he is done here. Just like he said he was.  I was prepared to get nasty, and honestly, I would rather kick ass than talk it over.  It's the path of least resistance for me. Bad guy? maybe.  Trust me, a man that can whip you mentally is far more dangerous than a man that will only injure your body, and Gator is one of them.  Insult him, and you will pay for a much longer time.  Don't believe me? try it...

As far as Gator is concerned like catzenmouse I also have had a fair bit of contact with him over the last couple of years and several phone conversations in my opinion he is one of the few true gentlemen on these forums and can disagree without insulting or being sarcastic. I happen to like and respect him very much. I think everyone could learn allot about friendly discourse from gator.
