The Kuna Update
« on: October 02, 2008, 02:07:50 PM »
I just thought I'd give an update on a few exciting things happening in our lives downunder.

Yesterday was the anniversary of my wife's arrival in our home.  We spent the day reminiscing about all of the wonderful things we've experienced over the year, and how fortunate we've been along this journey.  Neither can believe it's gone so quickly and yet it feels like an eternity since I first visited her in Kiev in January '07.

My goal for the night was a romantic evening - but the romance was limited by the fact that October 2, her date of arrival, also happened to be the due date for our baby.   :couple: :whirling:

Our "little one" will arrive at any time now and then our family will change dramatically.  It's a change we've always planned for and wanted.

It's the first child for both of us so we're both jumping in anticipation.  My decision to seek love and marriage in Ukraine, and her decision that we should get married (It's always the wife who decides isn't it?) were the best things we've ever done.

To those still seeking... be sensible...  be determined...  and be creative.  This is a big mountain to climb at times but with the right attitude you will succeed - and once you do, you will be happier than you ever imagined!

Kuna, You think you had to make adjustments in your life when you brought a RW home?  Just wait a couple of days!

But just as you have found a new definition for joy with your wife, so, too will you find one with your child.  Of course you also get the frustrations and difficult times, but they are more than worth it.

Congrats on everything. This is great news and I wish all of you the very best. When my first daughter was born, I would spend hours next to her just to be able to breathe the same air as her. Years later ( now in university) I have been relegated to text messages of "send money". If you thought seeking a RW wife was expensive.... ;D Just enjoy the journey, you will love it all. Again, all the best.

me too!  I could not be happier for you and your lovely wife.

Your story from start till now is worth a good read for those new here. It is honest, well documented and more and more  complete with each passing day.

Well...  I'd intended to update "The Kuna Update" earlier but things have been VERY busy downunder.

Our son was born on Oct 13 after an induced labour.  I don't think my wifes labour was particularly more difficult than many other labours but as a first time father I'm dumbfounded as to why ANY woman (FSU or not) would ever go through that a second time.  My wife has already said she wants two more to "complete" our family but I wouldn't have blamed her if she called MERCY and stopped at one.

:o

Both mother and baby are healthy and happy.  He only had a couple of rough nights while still in hospital but since coming home he's sleeping well, therefore my wife is sleeping well, therefore my life is much easier than it could be.

I'm taking a short break from work to help around the house... but in reality it's just the most magnificent time of my life as I get to know my son, and watch my spectacular wife interact and care for him.

I'll send out some pics to those who followed our journey but if I miss you and you'd like to see just send a PM and I'll send a pic out (rather than posting them openly).

Congrats Kuna on your new son. Make sure Mrs. Kuna teaches him some Russian/Ukrainian language.

Kuna,

Splendid news!  Congratulations to you and your wife for the "wee one."

I imagine that the two of you are on the top of the world!

What is his name?

What do you expect his first word to be, Ukrainian or English?  "Mama" tends to cut across both.

Please do not forget me when you send the photos.

Kuna, congratulations to you and your wife.

I'm proud to point out that you, Simoni, I/O, and myself were sort of in the same graduating class in that we all had our wives/fiancees arrive within months of each other. We all may not have gotten along at times but coming up on the two-year mark our marriages are strong and, based on everything I've read, we're all very happy. I don't recall another period on RWD during which so many men "graduated" - initially I thought it was a watershed moment, evidence that the collective knowledge of RWD was beginning to make a quantifiable difference in how men go about this. Not much since then gives me hope, however.

Best wishes to you and your wife and little Kuna.

Hey Kuna

Congratulations to you all..

I'm especially glad to hear you're getting some sleep :)

How was your first journey from the hospital to your home? .. I remember suddenly realising why "crazy" folk put "baby on Board " stickers in the rear windows and suddenly allowing more distance to brake...

And now.. that tiny premature baby will be able to drive a car in six months time... ENJOY every minute...
