Breaking the fur coat habit
« on: November 17, 2008, 09:35:39 PM »
My girlfriend has an addiction to expensive fur coats.   :D  She loves them, and it's hard not to understand why considering she's spent her whole life in Siberia.  It's one of the few things she'll splurge on for herself.  I'm a bit worried about when she moves here and the whole political-incorrectness of wearing fur.  She knows about it, but I don't think she really understands how serious some people are against fur wearing.  While I think it will be far too warm here for her to ever wear one, I have this nightmare about someone throwing paint on her $3,000 fur coat, or at the very least getting very nasty with her.  Anyone run in to problems with their wives or girlfriends wearing fur?

I bought my wife a Canadian raccoon coat as a gift before she settled here. She wore
it on the flight over - and to be honest she hasn't worn it locally since. It's definitely too warm
in NC for fur - four years ago she DID wear it flying up to JFK and then connect to SVO.

When my wife quickly took notice of the virtul absence of fur here, she opted to not make
waves, less out of fear, but more out of local style acceptance. Nobody, but nobody, will
ever pressure her out of those high heels though.

In Chicago and Milwaukee were I live in the USA - fur coats are very popular.  Actually being for PETA can get you in trouble in the midwest.  Wearing fur should not be a problem.

Macy's store even has a huge fur vault at most of their stores.  Plus in most malls you have 2 fur coats stores.  But California never really gets cold enough for a fur coat so probably no reason to have one.

Two sides to the fur coats.  Being for PETA can get you roughed up in certain parts of the USA. I will stop as I really can not stand PETA.

My wife brought her full length mink fur coat back with her from Siberia last year. We live in Miami. I asked her, "What are you going to do with a fur coat in Miami?". Well, she sold it to another lady and pocketed some pretty good money. I guess the new owner in Boca Raton will wear it.  :cluebat:

So nobody has had any bad experiences with their Wives wearing Fur back in North America? I'm curious because I very rarely see Fur being worn in Central Canada with the exception of Quebec. Lana bought a beautiful fur just last year and I warned her that it might not be so politically correct here.

I lived two months in Boca back in 1991 and the climate then was not much different to Miami's, IIRC. Has Global Freezing affected it in the meantime ;D?

BS bout "politically correct" I have my fur coat, my mom made it and no "politically correct" citizens can stop me from weating it, especially in our winter. try on plastic pants somewhere in Alaska or faux mink and good luck!    For some gals fur brought from their homeland is mere a memory about those little pieces of "cool" life-style they used to have.  ;D

Well mine french RW is coming here San Francisco Area. I had to warn her several times that the locals a get a little out of place about "political" correctness. They have been known to dump severe stain or destroy a lovely coat.
Years ago I meet a lady in a cafe in austria, she was wearing a lovely fur coat and she was from the SF. She told me that the coat was in a bag all the way until she landed in Europe so that it would not be damaged by the political correct individuals!!.

I am a member of PETA (people for the eating of tasty animals)

Why break the habit? RW look sexy in fur coats. Personally if someone
pours red paint on your RW do what 2tallbill would do which is to knock
every single tooth out of the guys head.

Fur is legal in every state of the US. Be a man !

Just my two kopecks,

Bill
