Green Card Interview - Free Book Available
« on: January 16, 2009, 02:26:09 PM »
My wife and kids were granted their conditional resident permit this week.  The interview went very well, taking about 20 minutes and most of that was shuffling papers.

The only non-routine task was providing a copy of the Russian court decision awarding my wife sole custody of her children.

The examiner asked very few questions and all were required (e. g., Have you ever been in the communist party?  Do you practice polygamy?  Have you been arrested?).  At the conclusion I asked why he did not ask more probing questions.  He replied, "The two of you have been together for so long and I can see in the faces of the children that you are a family."

We had prepared using the 104-page book Green Card Interview Questions and Answers by Famuyide.  The book was given to me by a RWD member.  I now wish to pass it on to someone else.

So if you have recently married (or your RW has recently received her fiancee visa) and would like the book, please send me a PM with your address.  I suggest that the book is more applicable to those couples who have not spent a lot of time together because 85% of it is a long list of the trick questions that an examiner may ask.

Good deal, Gator.  Glad to hear that obstacle was overcome without too much difficulty.

Your experience kind of mirrors ours a couple of years ago at the St. Albans sub-district office.  We were asked virtually no questions, spending most of our time talking about the new software the interviewer was trying to figure out.  His comment was similar to the one you heard.  He said that he was watching us (along with then 6 year old son) in the waiting area, and could obviously see we were a family.

Interesting about the custody document.  We have never been asked for anything in this regard.  One would think if it was pertinent to the issue, it would have been addressed at the K1/K3 stage, and not at the residency interview...

Congrats, Gator family! We were thrilled to get past that interview, which was an easy one. No trick
questions, basically "How do you like it here?" and to my stepdaughter, "How's school going?"

The examiner said, "Well, now the easy part is over." She explained that the hard part was when
we had to stand in line in prior months for Advance Parole and all the other bells 'n whistles.

We're very happy for all of you.

Congrats Gator.  That's one hurdle that we finally did 9 months ago.   We were worried naturally, but mostly usual questions you mentioned, plus a couple of more, the lady interviewer talked about her future upcoming retirement, and going back to college etc. and we felt at ease by the time it was done.  Now, the 10 year, and citizenship.

Congratulations, Gator.

I had my interview in June of 2007. Robert and I were prepared well with all documents and photo albums. But an official asked me only two questions: "Have you been ordered deported, excluded, or removed from the United States?" and "Have you ever been charged, arrested or convicted of any offense or crime?"  I swore "No, I haven't" and that was all. No more questions. I asked the official if he would like to look our photos and he said "No, thanks". I spent two days choosing the photos   :wallbash:

Thanks everyone.

Simoni, "What's next?"  For Sabina, to receive her permanent green card in a couple of years.  Prior to that, make some income.  For me, each day is a joy.

Welcome to RWD, webbbew!  We would love to learn more about you.  Perhaps you can go to the introduction section and tell us more about you guys?

There is a lot of support here in the RWD family for women, as well as men.  Just let us know how we can help.
