BTW, where in Russian "tradition" did moving abroad to marry come from?

From Yaroslav the Wise and his daughters.  :D

You can just "see it" when guys start talking about "traditional women", they are conjuring up images..................crap, it is no more than an appeal to the redneck factor IMO.
I/O

Exactomundo, everyone has their own defination of "traditional." But after reading agency schpeels one's imagination runs towards the "you're the man, you're my god, walk all over me." kind of thing which just isn't even close to the truth.

The fact is this: everyone is unique, you'll find good ones and you'll find bad ones and it's yours to define good and bad.

After all the BS is over with what you have left is this one simple rule: If you are a Western man looking for an FSUW as a wife you will be able to select from younger, more attractive women than you'll generally have available to you from your home town.

The rest of it is highly debatable and mostly BS.

culture of reporting child abuse was practically non-existent then and is still barely developed

I agree

some are trying to position Russia as the country where all women are excellent mothers.
My children grew up in Russia, I know dozens of families of my children s' friends and acquaintances.  I knew only one family, our neighbors  in Saint-Petersburg, who abused their children. The father of this family died from alcoholism at 33 y.o. and the mother was alcoholic also, she became a homeless and children were adapted by their aunt.
So I agree, not all RW are excellent mothers. I knew at least one that was far from excellent.

The only thing I don't understand why RW are saying bad things about RW, trying to scare the guy that just started his search. It is the same if some AM would say the bad things about the other AM: RW! Don't approach AM, lots of them are cheaters, abuse and kill their wives, even some American policemen are killing their wives.

I don't think it is logical.

Just tellin' the truth, for objectivity's sake.
I do honestly think that way too many RW are far from the ideal of a good mother, and the prevalent parenting style in Russia is still pretty repressive.

I was watching a bit of TV yesterday, which is a little unusual for me, and I saw an advertisement that troubled me a bit.  It's a phone number for an anonymous tip line to report child abuse.  the wording was something along hte lines of "even if you only suspect there is a possibility of abuse, call in and report it. Trust your intuition!"   Does that not strike anyone else as really a little over the top?

No, I don't think it's a little over the top at all....ITS WAY OVER THE TOP

Gemini: An absence of praise isn't a criticism. Very few Russian women I know seem to grasp this. BTW your comment about RW perhaps trying to scare RW out of marrying WM is EXACTLY what happens at times.

I do honestly think that way too many RW are far from the ideal of a good mother, and the prevalent parenting style in Russia is still pretty repressive.

I worked with children whose parents were deprived of the parenting rights, so without even sometimes seeing their parents and just knowing their biography and stories probably I can tell that I know more than 300 mothers who are far from ideal.

Regarding parenting style... talking not only with our American friends but also with people who I meet by chance, observing them with children I did not noticed so significant difference.

Parents who deprived of their parenting rights don't have any parenting style as I have noticed.

I never said anything bad about Russian women, I'm simply trying to point out that those halos and wings, that marriage agencies paint on them are far from reality.    ;)
