It seems many here are talking about prices in places like Moscow or Kiev and saying $15k wouldn't last. Since most of my experience is with Simferopol, I will talk about that. One can rent a reasonably nice apartment downtown for $300 a month. If you're looking at living on $1000 a month, that leaves $700 a month for food and entertainment expenses. That should be plenty to live comfortably and play reasonably well.
