quite frankly the internet has changed dating forever. It is not just AM and FSUW. All i have to do is go to any dating sight and change the search function and abracadabra I am looking for someone very far away. What drives someone to do it? I suspect there are more answers then there are people searching. So to my own advice I would say this.
1. Do not tell people how much money you make, not right away, not till after you meet them face to face at least once. If they ask, tell them that you can support a family. I only say this because to me it is important to know that the girl I am with is in love with me and not the things I can give her. it is not that those things are not important, its just I want her in love with me, not in love with the idea of living a lifestyle in the US that I might happen to come with.
2. my humble little opinion if you are not in this for love, and I mean the corny romantic warm and gooey feelings of love then you will fail no matter what the criteria. To many guys IMO think they are looking thru a catalog and buying a car, or shoes, or something. or "Good Genes" like Duke would say. For all the alleged wisdom many forget one very simple thing.
What do they want? They want the same thing you want
To be in love.

The phrase "Realistic Expectations" has always been a bit of a sticking point with me.

I think to have the realistic expectations is to have sober judgment and an ability to weigh the pros and cons, to take responsibility for you own life and if it is necessary to make changes to the best, to determine your needs, wants (the attributes you can or can't do without) and capabilities.  And it is very personal. Everyone has his own expectations. One person can think about his expectation as about unrealistic expectations, for other person the same expectation would be rather realistic and other person would consider the same expectation to be total mediocrity  :)
