Pt 1 - What is fair to disclose?

Some marriage agencies are fly-by-night operations. Some engage in ingenious (and illegal) shenanigans to part you from your hard-earned $$ - and since they're not based in the US or whatever country you are from, you have little recourse in event you suddenly have a doppelganger in Russia or Ukraine living the highlife via your credit cards or bank account. I wouldn't trust most of the people in the business with a burnt-out match, let alone my SS# and other vitals.

I also see this as yet another opportunity for groups to put yet more hurdles in front of men who are marrying FSU women.

There are fly by night operations in all aspects of industry.  Every industry is trying to separate you from your hard earned dollar, regardless if they provide the services promised, quality of product/service, and deserve repeat customers.  I do agree about the comment of identity theft and controlling info regarding DOB, birthplace, images, and mothers maiden name, let alone SS# or SIN#.

This holds water if you are comparing businesses in Western countries. It's an entirely different ballgame in the FSU.

Ecocks.....Since my wife had to provide a copy of her criminal record to the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, I would have NO problem providing a copy of my criminal background check, BUT....I would redact (blacken out) any personal information (such as SSN) that could be misused by some unscrupulous individuals in the FSU or America.

I hate to say this, BUT......Thank G*d I don't have to go through this whole "dating" an FSUW process anymore.

I believe that the GoodOl' U.S. Government will probably put enough road blocks up in the future that most descent AM will throw their hands up in the air and just walk away from this whole insane process.

IMO, the idea that quality checks bring a more "quality" AM to the table is a total and complete fallacy, dreamed up by some bureaucrat(s).

Having been the victim of identity theft and given the "verifiable" condition stated in the post I would disclose nothing.

Today I was in a doctors office and they asked for my SSN. I refused to give it.

Now imagine someone in an agency "verifying" your health records after you signed the disclosure agreement and some teenager at the doctors office faxing all that info to the agency. Or your bank records with account numbers.

No thank you.

I guard my information like it was worth something.

Hmmm. Not sure if any of you are seeing this from the girls' POV.

In getting a gal to pay to list, what incentive is there for her to pay over a thousand dollars, develop a solid profile, do her pictures and list solid, verifiable information in order to not be burdened by keyboard romeos who only want a sexy pen-pal and a fantasy?

If the gals are paying and undergoing a more extensive check than normal, the guys would become more likely to scam if we define scam ato include s those who only want to chat and live vicariously through the letters and occasional phone calls. This wastes the gal's time and I understand a few of them using this to justify becoming scammers to pull some money from these suckers.

While I believe a token fee would go great distances in eliminating female scammers I think you're going to have a tough time getting FSU women to pay over a thousand bucks to join a site.

I think the costs for the background checks on the women should be born by the agency and recouped by what the men pay.

The only way I see to eliminate the Keyboard Romeos would be to have the men sign an agreement to go within a specified time frame and put down a deposit on the trip.
