FSUW with limited English fluency often use quaint expressions in their emails and MOB profiles, probably due to their picking up a wrong translation in their Russian-English dictionaries. This may result in some misunderstandings with their readers.

Some terms/definitions were obtained/adapted from the "Russian Women Glossary" at Russian Brides Cyber Guide (http://www.womenrussia.com/glossary.htm), and are shown here initalics.


Active rest: Physical exercise, sports activities.

Attitude: Intention.

  • Example: I want man with serious attitudes does not mean that she expects gloomy communications from you.

Bad habits: Heavy drinking, smoking, drugs.

  • Example: I want to meet man with no bad habits may not necessarily mean that she will object to your belching and belly-scratching (or worse).

Balanced, well-balanced, counter-balanced: Even-tempered, calm,stable, sensible.

Blunt: Stupid.

Book-keeper: see Economist.

Careful: Caring.

Communicable, communicative: sociable.

Considered: Caring, understanding.

Coziness and comfort at home: Home improvements, homemaking.

Create a family<I>: Get married.

Growth: Height.

Lusty: Affectionate, expansive.

Manager: Equivalent of a Western higher-level office worker, often just a glorified clerk:.

Middle (medium) education: high school/professional education.

Native person: Soul mate.

Persistent: Steady.

Proud: Confident, independent.

Provided, materially-provided: Financially secure.

Purposeful: Goal-oriented, achiever.

Real man: see Manly.

Responsive: Responsible.

Rest on (the) nature: Relaxing in the countryside. Example</b>: In my free time I like to rest on nature may not necessarily mean that she uses to sleep in haystacks when not working.

Sensual: Affectionate, passionate.

Sexual: Sexy.

Strong family: A good, "quality" family,

Structure: Profile (on MOB site). Example</b>: I like your structure does not mean that she is smitten by your skeleton.

Survey: Profile (on MOB site).

Tactful: Considerate.

Temperamental: Passionate.

Well-to-do: Middle/upper middle class.

Without material problems: Financially secure

Womanly: Feminine.
