Green Onions must be close to the all-time greatest soul/pop instrumental.

Nothing jumps out.
I'd have to think about that one....lots good instrumentals but putting them into a category is hard sometimes.
If you like an extended heavier guitar version:

Very nice!  Other great instrumentals which spring to mind are "Apache" (The Shadows), "Arrival" (Abba), "Wipeout" (The Surfaris) and "Song for Guy" (Elton John) - although the latter two are not complete instrumentals they're close enough.  But number one in the pop world would surely be "Albatross" by Fleetwood Mac.

Other great instrumentals...
Movies are also a source of great instrumentals, albeit of a different kind. Just to name a few composers: Henry Mancini, Maurice Jarre, Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, ...

Since you and Sandro want to expand genres,
Let the posts begin and we'll worry about a poll later.  :D

I'm glad to meet another Peter Green fan.
Part 2 of this song.

And Elton John. These two songs need to run together. I remember buying this record the day it hit the stores. Just blew me away.

SCOTT JOPLIN . " The Entertainer " (1902)

Nola - Performed by Muriel Anderson. Starts at 1:54

Felix Arndt is best remembered for his 1915 composition, "Nola", written as an engagement gift to his fiancee (and later wife), Nola Locke. It is sometimes considered to be the first example of the novelty piano or "novelty ragtime" genre, published by Sam Fox Publishing Company. It was the signature theme of the Vincent Lopez orchestra, and a top ten hit for Les Paul in 1950.

The Charleston - James P. Johnson (1923)

"SING, SING, SING" Writen by Louis Prima in 1935 performed by Benny Goodman

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Henry Fiol: Picoteando por Ahi  [Boris (St P) dancing with Ekaterina (Kyiv)]

If you'd like a dance with Kate (Ms Salsa 2008), you can find her at the Depo Cafe in Kyiv where she is one of the instructors.
Good luck....and take your A moves with you.

Boethius,

Interesting choice, Leonard Cohen.  An accomplished Canadian over many decades.  Closing Time also done by the highly curious Tom Waites, not sure it is the same.

When I see the name Leonard Cohen I think of his Hallelujah and Jeff Buckley's cover, perhaps one of the top 10 covers in music history.   Here is Buckley's cover  (35,000,000 views, no ads), and Buckley is a story himself.
