2012 movie - Russian justice?

The new movie 2012 has a Russian oligarch's family as one of the central plot twists.  The movie is a drama about the Mayan prophecy that the world will end on 12/21/2012.  It has some great special effects, but what's relevant to this forum is how the Russians were depicted in this film.

I don't want to give away the plot or ending, but it was very interesting to see how the Russians who live and die demonstrate justice in the film.  The evil get punished and the good (or innocent) get rewarded.

There's a hot Russian girlfriend in the movie (actually French actress Beatrice Rosen) who plays the stereotypical Paris Hilton-type New Russian.  The Russian oligarch is boorish, backstabbing and uncaring even about his own family (the boxer son he leaves behind) - all the qualities we have come to expect from Hollywood stereotypes.  Apparently they didn't want to make Muslims the bad guys in this film so they chose the Russians instead.

If you like the movie "The Day After Tomorrow", you will probably like this movie but just be prepared for the not so subtle Russian-bashing.

True 'nuff. I always wondered what Fat Yuri looked like  But heck don't feel so bad because it seems every catastrophic movie made, the first city they destroy is always Los Angeles.  :burnedup:

Gotta love the special effects in the beginning though. I think Nicholas Cage would've done a better job than Cusack.
