Woman writing you first.
« on: February 20, 2006, 09:31:32 PM »
Ive gotten two letters from women in the last couple months, (not a complaint) but both said they got my email from a "Website of Aquaintances".  Im not sure should I be a bit dubious because they didnt use the sites name like "freepersonals" or something?  It just strikes me as odd that I got a letter out of the blue without knowing where it came from exactly.  Oddly enough both letters came from the same city: Kazan.  Not sure if this is unusual, usual, unusual and bad or Unusual and good.

Anyone have experiance in this?

If it wasn't for a Ukrainian girl writing me I never would have gone down this path.  Her original method of contact set off a few alarms but she turned out to be a nice girl, just a little clueless.  I met her in Kiev during my first trip, we weren't compatible but stayed friends.

Hi Mathew... You got nothing to lose by communicating with them. Until you send money & get burned you havn't been scammed.

I know there is a site out there (can't recall the name or addy offhand) that a friend in Canada found my picture & profile on. A site I never registared with for Russian women who are searching for men. It seems they or somebody else placed my info on their site. I had to write them to remove it as it wasn't brought to my attention till after I was married. Kinda explained why I was getting letters from women still & was no longer on the market.

I would write them & see where it leads. Like I said until you send money or get a request for some you havn't been scammed yet.

The Russian Marriage sites are very competitive.  Once you are on one, the others want your listing too.  And this includes gentlemen's catalogs too.  Some will ask your permission, but most will not.

The only site I ever listed myself on is Elena's Models.  Yet I am presently listed on at least 10 other sites.  Only one of them, Amenity International, asked my permission before listing me.

So it happens.

As for the ladies who contact you, always consider the scam possibility. How well the site they found you on screens their ladies has something to do with it, so you want to know about that site.  But don't dismiss the lady who contacted you.  She may have no idea that you were listed there without your permission or knowledge.  Write to her, find out about her, and take it from there.  And definitely do not send her money or anythng else of value, but that rule applies to all RW you meet on the net.

It just seemed odd to get one out of the blue like that is all thanks for the advice.  Trust me I would never just send $ like that (been asked before was smart enough to know better).

I had a similar experience to Al-C. I listed with a couple of agency's and I found my ad on a dozen different sites within a few weeks. I've even got a couple of e-mails over the last few months from women. I let Elena answer them now.

 Let me tell you it was not a pretty picture around my house when I got the first one of those after she was here. Had to show her with some internet searches and some of the letter I wrote to the companies telling them to de-list me.

Hey, it never hurts to write, just don't send money.   I get perhaps one new letter out if the blue a day.  Usually I know how they got my name,  sometimes not.  Back a year ago i had a short time when I was getting 80-100 new letters a day for a few weeks,  Talk about going crazy.  They were coming in faster then I could read them.

Peewee,

Where is it? I'm sure some of here would be more than happy to write some letters to you and send along some nice pictures too. Just remember that we love you and you are our destiny so hurry up and send that Western Union! :D;):P

I think you'll be able to sort the wheat from the chaff so don't worry and just have fun!

You reminded me of the time that I sent $40.00 via Western Union for a birthday gift for the 12 year old daughter of a woman that I was dating in Moscow. When next I spoke to her on the telephone she told me two things. The amount of money that I sent to her daughter was not worth her time to drive to WU and stand in line for and that they had plenty of money and to  not send them any more money in the future.

Wow she sounds very grateful, I wouldn't let that one get away!
Your Mom is so dumb that she tried to minimize a 12 variable function to a minimal sum of products expression using a karnaugh map instead of the Quine-McCluskey Algorithm.

sometimes dating agecnies or marriage agencies use free ads of guys placed on different sites and send them letters from girls in their data base. Sometimes the girls are really writing, sometimes not. I would suggest  - reply to the letters and see what happens. Just be prepared that at some point they will offer you their services, which is not a free thing of course. And then you will just need to see and decide if its worth it :)
