Now, if you remember - 'coz you have this bad habit about forgetting how your trolling gets you in these situations - you said,

Generally speaking these women are experts and used to dealing with sexual harassment. There is rarely a need to interject unless she asks you to go and break someone's face who isn't getting the message clearly enough.

As I read the original post, the issue was not one of protecting the lady.  It was curiosity about a stranger's motives.

She is used to dealing with gentlemen from the nation across the Black Sea...

She just couldn't understand why an American was wanting to be 'friends'  - believing her profile was pretty clear as to her status.

She has friends in the USA and and friends here who are 'at various stages of relationship progression with Americans .. wasn't sure if he was somehow connected.

Anyway..since Jone's suggestion - not one friend request ...
