Did you get your one year pin?
« on: October 22, 2007, 08:51:51 PM »
Hello,

Yesterday Kuna achieved his one year membership if I read the date properly in the members section. You accomplished a lot in one year and made an average of just under five posts per day on a 365 day basis.
Maybe Dan will send you the RWD lapel pin and a certificate for Hero status..lol

Congratulations and best of luck in future.

Thank you for noticing....

It's incredible and I had similar thoughts myself.

When driving home from my mothers house on Monday night (her birthday) I stopped at some traffic lights and looked at My Girl sitting next to me.  It was at about the same place that one year earlier I had thought to myself, "Stuff it, when I go on holidays I will try to meet someone and maybe if things work out we might marry."

That night I found RWD, joined and started reading.

Three months later I took my trip and met My Girl on my first day in Kiev.  We had a few great days together and then I went off doing other things but she sent me an email saying she wanted to see me again before I returned to Oz.

I went down to Dnepr...  she came back to Kiev... I returned home... and the communication was constant, intense and of the highest quality.

A few things happened and I decided to return in May and on that trip I met all the family (the 8 of us stayed in her apartment while the family was down from Moscow)... and after they left we continued our time together.

This time the daily emails were from My Girl and my FBIL. The phone calls were mostly to My Girl but there were a few between me and the family in Moscow.  Cards, letters and SMS's were flying between our three cities.  I remember laying in bed on the ight of my birthday and an SMS arrived on my phone.  I wondered who would message so late but was very happy when I saw it was from the family in Moscow.  It's nice to know them so well.

A few months later we submitted our paperwork and planned my Christmas trip because we knew we were in for a wait of 5 - 10 months.  A week and a half later the Embassy called My Girl and told her that her visa was approved IF she could be in Australia by October 5.  Three weeks later she was with me.

So...  it's taken a year, much reading and posting in RWD... many phone calls and emails with RWD members...  and a hell of a lot of work on our relationship.

A little after lunchtime yesterday I received an email from My Girl and it simply said, "My Darling, I am very happy.  Thank you. My dreams are all true. Love always."

In some ways it seems not possible - especially after hearing what so many others go through but for me... no, for us... it was possible.  Why?  Many reasons I think and I'll continue to try to share some of my experience with others who want to marry a FSUW.

Kuna

Oh...  five posts a day...  That reminds me again to thank those that also have a high posting rate...  jb, KenC, Catzenmouse, Scottincrimea and I/O. Of course there are many others but these guys are probably the foundation of the RWD brains trust... and a big reason for my success comes from their experience.

Hi,

It has been educational to watch the process take place in your case and it seems almost completely documented due the the amount of posts you've made to date.
Very good job indeed of projecting the real time activity to the RWD in a way that made it possible to follow easily.

  Again,

Best of Luck

Makkin,

You might be surprised at how much personal information, (thoughts, actions and decisions) I've kept to myself or kept within the realm of PM's.   ;)

As for the rate of posting in here...  I feel like a big part of the past 12 months has been tied to this "institution" and since My Girl has arrived in Oz it's infinitely more difficult to find the time to read or post here.  There are others that have maintained this rate of posting over a much longer period of time... and for that we should all be thankful.

RWD has been a terrific resource for me and I'm sure it offers value to others...  I just hope they use the information once they find it.

Kuna

Hi,

Yes, I agree that much of your information was not here on RWD and I agree that if you had posted everything then it would be too personal and give away too much of your personal life. Private things are good for you to keep and everyone else to not have in a manner of speaking..lol

I do think that you deserve a one year pin or certificate that shows your contribution and effort to make this RWD a better place for new members and also all members who have gained knowledge from your information posted.

Just imagine you wearing a pin that said"RWD" and having questions about what that pin meant..lol Maybe it would be best to say the "pin" symbolizes as aspect of learning as well as friendship with many people who also wear the "pin". I suppose all in all yourself and Jazzy and Turbo as well as a handful of others could wear the pin and never be able to explain what it really means except to a small portion of persons who have any experience in this difficult but yet rewarding accomplishment.

Yours,

Makkin

I never was one looking for accolades but when the time come and my 3 year birthday is around.....I will let you light the candles.....

Thanks for the good wishes and yes I am on the way to achieve all that. Thank you ....

Did you know that next year is a leap year and now you mention marriage I better check with my darling if she is superstitious or not. I am not but you never know with these Russian and Ukrainian women.

I think your time has arrived for you to move and start meeting those women you have been chatting away..... where is the first trip?

Wish you good luck and hope to hear the good news soon

Hi,

Thanks for the kind words Wiz.

Yes the time is near for me but also the teenager friends of my daughter and her are my main priority now..lol I must sleep with one eye open and maintain constant communication with my daughter to insure her safety in these teenage times. Seems she is at least halfway honest with me and that's pretty good in my book as we sit around some nights with information flying around that would make the other parents skin crawl..lol I just hope for my sake that I can keep on with a straight face for a bit longer..lol(typical teenagers)

First trip since my last trip to FSU should be when the time in right and I get a different trip finished. I think it will be sooner than later.

Makkin
