Online dating must go offline at some point - that's when the moment of truth occurs. 

I once went on a first offline date with an chat pal who seemed rather promising.  We spent 2 hours drinking coffee and not once did he ask me a single question about me!  All the talk was about himself, his life, his kids, his job, his car, his vacations, himself, himself. 

At the end of the date, he said ponderingly:
"How strange, I seem to have talked about myself a lot, and you did not tell me anything about yourself!" 
"Because you asked me no questions, dearest, and I asked you lots!"   
"Hmmm and what's the point of asking you questions?  I know everything you're gonna say anyway!"

Knowing many men such as the one you just described is good for you; it enables you to recognize quickly the "keeper" when you encounter him.

Heh heh.  I find that behavior just...odd.

What I'm wondering about is: are RM like that no matter how you first meet them (online or offline)?

(And I am aware we all do a lot of generalizing here.  Obviously, not *every* RM or AM or AW or RW behaves in a certain way. I'm just looking at tendencies, and curious if online sites in Russia select for certain types of people.  Aside from the obvious market selection going on at sites that match WM and RW     .)

You should also add 'covert' pros like my "Double Dealers" (http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/index.php?topic=1598.0) to that figure (only 55 so far, which won't change your stats by much and we needn't get into a debate ).

I had a profile on a couple of Russian dating sites for a year or so.  Mostly I was contacted by the likes of this Kostya (shallow oversexed twits), infantile mamma's boys, married middleage crisis shmucks, and only occasionally interesting intelligent guys who explored various online opportunities.  Most of the latter, upon personal meeting, turned out to be mamma's boys, married middleage crisis shmucks, or shallow oversexed twits.  Tough luck. 

It would be interesting to hear your opinion on what is the ratio of "marriage material" men to "marriage material" women in Russia?

I beg to differ, because, on their dating profiles:

1. They usually make statements much like those that any 'normal' FSUW makes.
2. In most cases, the photos are NOT the same as those on their 'pro' sites, or are just the cropped, chaste part thereof (wasteful not reusing parts of an expensive photo shoot ).

JMHO, however, not possessing your often-cited instinctive qualities of unerring FSUW assessment .
