This thread smells of troll and personal argument.  No more comment here.

I always think "Troll" when this stuff happens, however I try to contain myself lest I be labled a bigger SOB than usual.  George_123  spurred a larger than usual debate, but it may have turned out largely more educatonal to the general masses than a less spirited thread might have generated.

The laws regarding the Afidavit of Support, as applied to USA Immigration, was covered somewhat nicely, don'cha think?

Ste,

"I've been hanging around these UK immigration forums for ages and one thing is for sure, for every guy denied a visa despite being loaded to the gills with evidence of relationship, there's one granted to the guy with a scrap of paper and a mobile phone bill. Seems to depend on ECO mood, and locations, from what I see Manila and Casablanca being very tough."

I agree with you 100%.  The current government has increased the complexity of immigration law by an order of magnitude.  The staff/money to administer these laws has not increased by anywhere near the same extent. The UK immigration service is poorly managed and demoralized.

You and I have both spent some time at Reliance House in Liverpool.  The staff lurk behind bandit screens.  All the furniture is bolted to the floor.  Video Cameras everywhere.  Even in the toilets looking into the stalls!  Posters warning of the severe penalties for assaulting staff.

The place has the ambiance of an office which gives quality service   :hairraising:

I am not trying to be combative.  I will open a thread on the "UK Visa Journey" in the FAQ section.  Lets discuss these issues there.

The Paki often have British passports or the right to them as their parents were British citizens at one time. For them Britain is one of the easiet countries to enter in Europe.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Sorry guys - I just picked those off the shelf as-is. I can probably find the GIF files, if you want to correct the colors.

George, the government of Mexico and the Mexican Embassy is aware that the border between the US and Mexico is porous.

Therefore, they are sensitive to visa applications. It's just about as difficult to get a tourist visa to Mexico as it is to the USA.

I know; I had a girl try it one time only to be rejected.

We went to Costa Rica instead, and it was a great country to visit.

Good Luck.
The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.  michelangelo

By the way, the rules on the I-864 Affidavit of Support have changed.  Those filing for immigrant visas or Adjustment of Status may want to research.  New forms as well.  Only one tax return is required, assets reduced from five times to three times, etc.

George 123, just file the K-1, and make sure by the time of the interview your 2006 income tax return is up to snuff.  Read the I-134 form.  Providing it with sufficient documentation will overcome the public charge issue at the interview.

As regards the subsequent Adjustment of Status, you can again provide your most recent tax return with the I-864.

This is not a problem if you think ahead for the 2006 tax year and ramp up your income accordingly.

I figure if you had $200K to invest in a business, you can always go back to doing whatever you did before, if you had to.  So I guess I fall in the Damn the Torpedoes camp, knowing almost nothing about you anyway.  But hopefully you do know her pretty well and vice versa.
