I met them.  One feels pity, yet when I started my research a man named JB gave excellent advice about not being a white knight.  I listened.  JB sugar coated nothing.  I wonder what he would say about you.  Seriously, if you, Trenchcoat, and others are still in the learning phase, I suggest you enter your search words in RWD's search function and type JB as author.

Looked up JB, a number of posts, haven't yet had time too look them all through, however, in one there was talk of half the girls in a US high school photo of the class being obese, think this was back around 2006-7 time. That's shocking, I just feel sorry for the guys growing up today, many it will be either accept a fat girl in her full girth or get nothing - that's no real choice at all is it. UK is gone much the same way, just so many fat women around these days. I just wonder why they do it, its terrible for us guys having that on the table. One of my reasons for my search for a FSW woman, I just couldn't respect or go with a fat girl, just not my values, truly shocking, something should be done about all this obesity I think.

. . . something should be done about all this obesity I think.

Not much chance until a complete change of thinking/policy comes about.

Right now in USA there is much done to make obese people feel good about themselves.

I am not sure how many people die from complications of obesity compared to cancer, heart attacks, etc., . . .

but it seems like enough to have more research into obesity cures.

It is hard to believe that there isn't a particular gene that leads to obesity that couldn't be overcome with simple medication.

The potential revenues to the drug companies would be huge.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

Actually, you probably know that obesity rates are growing in most every country of the world.

Maybe caused by global warming or creeping socialism or Hollywood movies or dropping oil prices or ??

I think this is at bottom the reason many of us decided to search for fsuw. There are far more slender fsuw than slender AW. A few years ago I attended my daughter's middle school graduation. I was shocked at how many of the girls were already overweight or obese at the age of 13 or 14.

There certainly are many AW who are not overweight, even after 40. The vast majority of them are married. This is not surprising because almost all guys prefer a slender build. No amount of the Fat Acceptance movement is going to change that. There are still a number of AW who are not overweight and are single. But because there are very few in the world of online dating, with its wealth of choices, they have become extraordinarily picky. To get these girls it's generally no longer enough for a guy to be over 6 feet tall, in good shape, make a six figure salary in a prestige occupation, be well dressed, intelligent, and articulate, with good people skills.

I've told this story here before but I was on a first date with a slender AW in her early 40s. The subject of dating tests came up. I asked her if she had any. she told me that she had ended her last new relationship because of the guy's answer when she asked him what he would order in a Chinese restaurant. He answered almond chicken. she was a big foodie and did not think this was sufficiently culinarily adventurous for her.

I've told that story to a few fsuw who asked why I didn't marry an AW. All of them were shocked that a girl would end a relationship over what they regarded as such a frivolous reason.

Exactly right Larry.

And I am too important and special to have to compete for a woman.  Just ask my Mother.

This was not her first or second date with the guy. They had been going out for awhile.

In your post you mentioned 'new' relationship. Didn't sound to me to be 'going out for awhile'. To me new relationships are at the beginnings. If a girl is not happy, she will definitely find any excuse to end things.

In 1997 I was assigned for 2 months to the IBM Lab in Austin, and was surprised at what I saw in the break area on my floor there: alongside 2-3 hot/cold beverage dispensers, there were no less than 4-5 snack dispensers, if my memory serves correctly. And passing through the corridors, I could see many colleagues often munching stuff.

Worse than my previous experience at the IBM Lab in Boca Raton in 1990, where the situation was similar to Italy then: 1-2  hot/cold beverage dispensers, 1 snack dispenser.

Considering that my colleagues usually started the day with a hearty breakfast and the IBM cafeteria served acceptable meals at fair prices, can anybody explain the urge for US office workers to stuff themselves with junk food throughout the day :-\?

Shocking, I would have thought that American girls in school would want to emulate their thin Hollywood female stars/role models, to feel and look like they do, be the popular hot babe at school all the guys lust over. Rather than a fat frumpy dowdy looking girl none of the guys want or care to take notice off, isn't that the age when they are starting to get interested in guys? I would have thought it would be obvious to them that a decent figure is needed to attract the guys they like. From what I see it takes massive overeating to achieve an obese figure so its more than the odd extra piece of cake/chocolate bar here and there.

The way I see it, it really isn't how much one eats, its a combination of what quality of what is eaten, and what the individual does to utilize excess calories.  All too often, munching junk food while spending too many hours watching TV or on the computer adds up to FAT.
FSU of both sexes tend to be slimmer and more fit because they generally eat well at home, walk to the stores or the nearest public transportation, ride bicycles, etc.
How many pedestrians do we see in America?
Another factor is this, there seems to be a fast food joint on every corner in USA, and while the rest of the world seems to be slowly catching up, it isn't true in the FSU and elsewhere.
Old ain't dead, but it don't feel good getting old.  Pain is nature's way of telling me I'm still alive!
