Lily it would be great to hear your perspective on this, or maybe a funny anecdote from the letters that you recieved.

BeregI zdorOvie! (take care)

Bill

I understand it is about my perspective on the introductory letters, right?

Personally I don't see a need for any special letters like that. In a profile, a person should say the essentials on himself. As Taz correcty pointed out, it is a sort of message that sells. A profile should tell what makes this person special, it should stress what you would get if you win his/her affection.

By writing a letter on a dating site, we actually show that we may be interested in getting to know the addressee, that we at least expect a reply, that we see at least some remote possibility of relationship with the person. We signal our interest, that's it, and are open for further contact.

I think in the first letter it would be better to ask for some details that stroke your attention in her photos or profile. Ask for something that she wrote or posted about herself. Any written phrase, any piece of information given by herself should be an invitation to some further conversation, and it is very interesting to see what direction and shape your dialog would then get. That should be a dialog between the two, not an introductory letter, IMHO.

I receive very few ILs myself. Once I got a IL that was many pages long, and it really exhausted my patience, despite I took time to read it.  >:(

Sorry for my deleted post, I will be more attentive next time and would speak only if I could really improve upon the silence  :)

I/O

I'm sure you were'nt specifically talking about my case...  But when I talked about photos of me with my car, bike, and sled...  I was referring to photos posted on my profile at Elena's Models.

If I was into horseback riding and mountain climbing I would certainly have posted photos of me doing that.  But I am into motorsports and enjoying a few beers, so I made sure to have photos of me doing things that I normally do.  For me this included a few toys, and pics of me drinking a cold heineken.

BTW I got A LOT of action on that profile.  My intro letter was sort of a life story.  I followed the suggestions of Elena from Elena's models in her E-Book "how to marry a girl like me" where she suggests a fairly lengthy introduction letter.  I received positive responses from almost all women I sent the intro letter to.  But alas - the one I was hoping to hear from most wrote me, and we are now married.  ;)

Of course I did this (long intro letter) before finding the forums and getting advice.

I am surprised that you visited your wife without hearing her voice on the phone.  But this just goes to show that there is not just one right way to meet a RW.

I think all of the information posted in this thread is constructive and certainly shows that there are many ways to find your love.

Lily made a post then removed the contents of the post leaving it saying "Deleted". The post was removed as it had no purpose in the thread.

I'm just curious, super moderator Mod1, what is that avatar picture a picture of?

I have forgotten:
add some joke or write your letter in a humorous way, but avoid the jokes that tallbill writes in the "humorous section"

I agree, 99% of the jokes I post in the "time for some humor" thread are too crude / vulgar to send to
an RW. Writing a story in a humorous way or looking at something ordinary and finding something humorous about it is one of the very few talents that I possess so obviously I have to use what I got.

I know that this thread is pretty old, however for the newbies this is something
that they need to consider. Hopefully my introduction letter days are
done. Time will tell

What new advice do the veterans have for the current newbies?

Separated May 2012 she told me we would reconcile. On April 04 2013 I found out she had a boyfriend (a black felon to boot - once you have black...) for a the last 20 months or so and the whole time separated was accepting my money. A lot more to this story and it's so disgusting I am not sure which details to leave out or post.

Just as you normally read around these parts. How drastically different the tones of these men's words change, especially those who believe they got this all figured out, in just a couple of short years.

I wonder if he realised just how prophetic that one word would be?

The answer is probably 'no' or 'couldn't care less'.

The bottom line is, guys who already suffered the same fate will either be too egotistical or stupid to admit it happened to them (or both); or, guys who would rather sweep realities like this under the rug believing for whatever reason it can never happen to them; or, guys who doesn't have the bawls to admit they screwed up; or, guys who simply doesn't care what happens because 2 freaking bad years is still a helluva better than being alone during those times....

One of the 'other' sad revelation that came out of Maxxum's saga is the fact that he even proudly proclaimed to 'enjoying a few beers' in his other previous post.

It guess for some on this board, it is somehow*fun* to send newbies out there fed with the hype, fantasy and some classic innuendos about *souls* and *survivor* silliness.
