Jazz: This lead me to a question.  Is this something specifically within your family culture or do you think it applies to Russian upbringing (As you know it) in general?

I/O

Dear I/O:)

I think it is due to my family specifically , though I know couple of my female friends whose mom's are my mamita's friends and they have the same outlook like my family has:) But I would never call it or apply it to Russian upbringing in general , cos people come from different social stratas and they have different  moral values, different social conditions, different circle of communication, I am not saying  that my family culture is absolutely perfect, but I stick to it and it is my core:)

The thing is there are women who actually would never feel ashamed that they ask money from  their guys for this or that matter for repairing fence or any other  reason like internet or eyelashes or nails or clothing or I do not know to give her money for  plastic surgery or anything , maybe I am a fool that I can not be like those women , but I  look deep inside my soul every now and again and I see that I can not be like that I can not ask for money for any reason , when I will  be his wife then maybe yes I will think about it, but when I am not official I will try as much as possible to avoid taking money from him , cos it is my personal maybe fear, or lack or maybe complex I can not ask for  money -call it a communistic upbringing I do not care honestly:) I am who I am and am not gonna make excuses why I have such beliefs about money matter:)

That does not mean that all Russian women are like that, they perfectly can , not only ask for  money , plus they can demand them and they can take it for granted and think, that cos they are so beautiful and unique their guys are obliged to support them with money.....

Jazzy, My wife would have never asked for this for herself, but she had a daughter that she worried very much about.  It was a severe blow to her pride to ask for this, but she was willing to sacrifice her pride to see that her daughter did not suffer.  I didn't realize at the time how difficut this was for her, but now I appreciate it.  My wife is a very proud person, as I feel that you are, but her daughter comes first.  If you had a child, would you not do the same?

Oi dear Scott of course I would ask if I had a daughter and I needed desperately money to save her life or something and I am not proud , I just have this money matter thing:)

Do not compare please a young woman with a child left alone and a girl happy go lucky one who is living with her mamita and papita , they are feeding her and she saves money for her own needs:)  and only pays for her University ,come on we are in different position with her:)

If I needed money for my son or my daughter I would forget about my prejudice this money matter and asked , of course no question about that

she agreed it was high but said it was a 1-1 lady teacher and included a taxi to and from her apartment as she lives away from a bus route! I think she sensed my wariness because this morning she sent me a message to say her work colleague knew another teacher who wasnt so expensive!

Carraig, people in the FSU have little money and they usually are smart enough to understand what a good deal is and isn't when spending their money. I find it dissapointing that your woman found one of the most expensive English teachers around. If she knew she was going to pay for it, she wouldn't be hiring that teacher guaranteed. You wrote her and said that teacher was expensive. Within a day and even hours, she responded that her work colleague knew a teacher who wasn't so expensive. Would she have told you that if you did not question the price?

Another dissapointment is the excuse she gave about the $250 price per month. The price includes a taxi ride because the teacher lives away from a bus route. Buses/mini-buses run everywhere in the large cities of the FSU. Cheap transportation is within walking distance of everyone. If for some phenominal reason the teacher does live in an area where buses don't operate, then most likely the teacher owns her own car because I doubt she's going to walk across town all the time.

The best reasoning for hiring an expensive English teacher is that the teacher is much better than the others.

There have been cases where women pocket leftover money after the actual cost of English lessons. Maybe your woman is not this type of woman. But if you marry her, let's hope she doesn't shop for food and merchandise the same way she shops for English lessons.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.
