I find this position to be rather difficult to defend. According to the CIA factbook the GDP for Ukraine Just shy of 300 bln placing Ukraine 32nd in GDP. They are behind the Philippines, Poland, Argentina, Turkey, Iran, Indonesia, Pakistan and Thailand. Barely surpassing Columbia in GDP.
Any way you slice the pie, the socio-economics of the region does play a role in why western men are attractive to women from the FSU. To be sure, there are other equally or more important factors that play a significant role in the decision a woman makes in pursuing a husband abroad. Just as, the qualities of women from the FSU are a big reason why some western men opt for this as a way to find the love of there life. It is utterly naive to say that the physical appearance and extreme femininity of women from the FSU don't play a large role in why western men find them to be so attractive.
I believe a big part of what is causing the perception espoused, is the collapse of the so called "socials or romantic tours" or whatever name tag the big agencies want to slap on them. You rarely find either quality men or women using this method to find each other.
According to the US State Department since 1994 the number of visa's issued to personson who live in the FSU has been showing a robust and steady
INCREASE. Interestingly, Europe as a whole accounted for less than 14% (13.

of immigrant visa's. In 1998 there were 14,467 K visa's issued. Each year from 1998 until 2002 (latest data) showed an increase in the number of Kvisa's issued to enter the United Sates. Those numbers increased from the 1998 figure to 39008 in 4 short years. Specifically for K1(fiancee) visa's for those from Russian and Ukrain show that the figures go from 12,968 to 28,338 There is not a single incidence where the figures decline. Given the fact that between just Russia and Ukraine in 2002 the issued K1 visa accounts for 14.81% it is nearly impossible to support your supposition that women from the FSU are less inclined to consider marrying a man from outside the FSU. The difference between all visa's issued and k1 visa issued suggest quite the opposite. In order for your supposition to be correct, there would have to be a decline in 2003 and 2004 Kvisa's issued. While that is certainly possible, the data we can look at now certainly does not support your thesis.
At the end of the day it really doesn't matter anyway. There is a significant pool of women currently seeking a husband abroad and a man can only have 1 wife at a time.
Having read a variety of your posts it is very clear that you have a particularly clear distain for the entire concept. You make that unmistakably clear. I am not the least bit surprised that you hold the view that there is a "shortage" of available women. There is NEVER a shortage of availability of finding a spouse when both the man and the woman are quality individuals. Perhaps the days of men who are losers gaining a hot wife from the FSU are over (most of them are divorced by now anyway.) but a person of quality is always going to be attractive to the opposite sex!
