Maybe in Simferopol things are done in the right way and in Kharkov one needs to pay bribes?
Seriously I think in many instances people who pay bribes just have a preconception that it needs to be done while it might have been possible to get the job done without the bribe :)
Mir, I think maybe I should of said, that the $30 was for police cert/with two certified English translations documents ;).....as far as what I think Thor is talking about...I to would have paid the bribe.....why ??? ??? because that "special place" is on a dark road with little to no traffic, where they beat the sh1t out of you until you give up all of your money and maybe your life....get it ???

Wayne,

200 grynas is nothing, and compared to that "specail place" I would be happy to pay 500 grynas to....
This was the first time I spoke with the police in Ukraine and hopefully the last time too. Yes to try to hit on other mans girls, be loud, drunken and so on are very stupid, not only for a newbie Mir. That goes for all of us. My firend got us into this trouble, but we where lucky since my wife talked us out of the situation :o. But I was not so lucky who had to explain to my wife why the police had come....... :cluebat:.

I never get in trouble in Ukraine because I am usually a quiet guy, and I try to always respect the locals. I am in Ukraine as a guest and try to act like a guest should act. But I learned a lession and so did my friends.

Mir,

I very much respect that you have done all that charity work, and I can imagine how the conditions in that refugee camp had to be. I guess you have experienced and seen things that where horrible.

Maybe yes and maybe no.
In my only brush in with police in Eastern Europe I said:'Fine, lets go to the station' and they said 'No need for that anymore, you can go' however I accept that I had not been drunk and had not done anything wrong at all and was just getting some unnecessary hassle. Still maybe if the had taken me to the station I would not have lived to tell the tale :)
