Looking for info on Lugansk

I am planing a trip to Lugansk.... If you have been there can you give me some info on the town.... ? Recommend an interpreter? a hotell or apartment I should stay in?....... How large is the Town.....? I have been to the southern part of Ukraine... but this is first time to Lugansk..... what is the best path to get to Lugansk from USA? any flights in? what airport is closest? ... Taxi? Buss? train?....  Thanks

I do believe Lugansk is known for a lot of organised scammer activity. But I believe you're going to visit your gf so I'd just look online for cheap airfares.

Oh yes I am new at this but I already knew about these Lugansk scammers. The moment I see that city it brings an instant warning. Be very careful with any woman from there but there must be some good women there too.

Not much to do in Lugansk.  Zoo is interesting but small - ferris wheel (not the one in main park) in zoo was a little scary when I went on it.  Couple decent restaurants. Virtual tourist below has some information (contact some of the members on virtual tourist for ideas).  Luganks has a couple of modeling agencies and the marriage agencies pay for these girls pictures.  So just stay away from girls under 25 and you will not have to be worry of its scammer reputation.  I do know when I wait for the plane to Kharkov in Kiev the Luganks plane has the prettiest girls in Ukraine headed there.  Not sure this is good or bad but keeps me awake in the domestic airport.  For some reason the girls headed to Crimea are not as good looking.  Something about East Ukraine.

Nearest airport is Lugansk. Yes, they have taxi, buses and trains. FWIW, IMHO it's a sh*thole.

Never been tro Lugansk, never had any desire to go there, unless there was a very unique woman to visit there I would look elsewhere.  Having said that, it may take a trip there to see if the woman is unique or not as I am sure there are some unique women there.

I have taken only one trip to Crimea so my observation could be wrong.    UW are beautiful, and hopefully this does not start any controversy, but does not the ethnic mix vary between the two regions with more Russians in the east and more Ukrainians and tartars in Crimea?  Crimea has a few other diverse groups of people who travelled through the region and traded there in the past centuries. 

If one prefers blondes, he may consider the East better.  If one prefers darker features, he may gravitate to Crimea.  In Crimea, I saw a few brunettes with large sky blue or sea green eyes, and they were stunning.

Reading between the lines I gather that you are not visiting your so called "girlfriend" but venturing out to meet others.  Splendid!  However, jumping from a tour to Lugansk is going out from the frying pan and into the fire.

Do you care to share with us how you met this new woman (women)?  Two consequences:  either we will support your choice or we will warn you (and try to save you from a likely wasted trip). 

I ask because as explained by Ravens and others in your larger thread, you seem to have been working with some disreputable agencies.  You gave us no facts so we are guessing.  Nevertheless, our guesses are educated by the experience of those who went before you.

Believe it or not, almost all men (and certainly all RW) are trying to be helpful.

Not sure if you have found your info or not. I have been to lugansk a few times. I do know of some interpreters there. If you have a choice I would recommend staying away from the agency interpreters unless they are giving you a good rate. If you need a contact just PM me and I can give you the info. I would second the not a lot to do there, but I enjoyed myself. Then again, I enjoyed who I went with so that has something to say about it.
