Montreal Trip Suggestions
« on: September 06, 2009, 02:27:10 PM »
I didn't know where to put this, so Odds and Ends seemed as good as any.

Next month, my wife and I are planning to take a drive up north, and stay the night in Montreal.  Our son will be away on a week long school trip, so the two of us want to get away on our own.

I'm open to suggestions of things to see and do (Russian or otherwise), as well as a nice hotel for us to stay.  Anyone with some first hand knowledge, please pass along your thoughts.

Thanks!

Welcome to Montreal ! I recommend you to stay at l'auberge du vieux port.
What to see ? There is the old montreal of course, you can have a supper on St Laurent River, a walk on the Plateau Mont Royal...

You will find more infos here

Contact me if you need more infos...( I live on the Plateau Mont-Royal)

I agree with docetae le Plateau Mont-Royal is definitely a must see. There is so much to do and see. I also like a lot to go on St-Laurent street when I go in Montreal. The west side of the island is more english speaking but really in Montreal you could go just anywhere in english and be welcomed. I live in Quebec City which is a two hour drive north. I certainly could be of a better help here.

Thanks for the input.  Unfortunately, there aren't any (reasonable) rooms left at the l'auberge du vieux port on the night we will be there.

Any insight on the following hotels?
-- Le Relais Lyonnais
-- Hotel Gault
-- Le Saint-Sulpice

Or any others you might suggest.  I need to make reservations by the end of this week.

Thanks again!

Le relais Lyonnais is on St Denis street which can be very noisy during night (a lot of bars, etc)
Hotel Gault is more in a business district, very calm but very close to the old part of the city, it is a good choice.
Saint Sulpice will be the best choice, directly within the old Montreal.

How many nights will you stay ? 1 or 2 ?
