BC,

I agree completely with you.  Please recall that rjd400 is commited to WOVO.

Groovlstk, GOB et al are justifiably cautioning rjd to expect the same level of commitment from his woman.  Both should go "all in."

Interesting play of words in groovlstk's choice of "puppy dog" because some men think they can go to the FSU, select the cutest "puppy," and bring her home.  Groovlstk is correct because without the equivalent commitment he is nothing more than a new puppy dog let out of his crate a few hours to play with his master.

Me too, what a classic! I also remember that he swore off FSU women after that. And I don't blame him, I'd have been tempted to join a monastery after that experience :)

You're not kidding with this?!  What person in their right mind would allow that?  Or maybe the key words here are "right mind"...

To elaborate here a bit for newbies who have not stayed in FSU apartments, many of them have locks of the sort where the key is needed to turn the lock from both outside and INSIDE.  i.e. there is no knob or lever you can turn inside to unlock the door.  This is strictly against all fire and safety codes in USA, but not in FSU.

So the situation is much more casual in FSU that a person is 'locked in.'  It is not necessarily something another person does to keep you captive; its just the way the locks work.  So when there is only one key, as in many rental situations, it can happen to the unwary.

I was in such a situation once.  My woman friend got up early to go to work and didn't want to wake me.  So she said she would lock the door behind her as she left.  So before we went to bed, I went to look for sure at the lock and saw I would be locked in.  So I said "No way baby."  She says: "Then I must wake you??"  I said:  "No, just leave the door unlocked."  She didn't like that either, but I insisted.

And I also insisted that we contact the landlord to get another key.  This was a special type of key that the locksmiths would not copy without some sort of document.

In another more  recent situation, the apt we rented had two locks.  One was the 'key needed on both sides type,' and the other had the inside turn knob.  So when the woman left early she would lock the turn knob type from outside.  I could get out safely and, when I left later, I could use the other lock.  Then we each had a different key, but were able to beat the system without having duplicate keys.

And he probably thought that he knew her well before he made the trip!

It was Bill12920's Kiev disaster - Sept. 4-Sept. 15, 2008 (http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/index.php?topic=8545.0), IINM ;).

I condensed this whole nightmarish experience in an appendix (Tom's Train Wreck) of RWD's E-book.

Poor bastard, but this is some classic stuff!!........

Now I'm an early riser and when the sun comes up, I automatically wake and am ready to go. This happened at 7:00 and Tatyana wasn't arriving until 10:00. This gave me 3 hours to start thinking of all sorts of bad things. In my hasteful and groggy state the night before, I had neglected to notice that the apartment door could only be opened with a key (even from the inside). Tatyana had the key! I couldn't open the door even if I had to. Lets see.... I don't know where I am. Nobody else in the whole world, except Tatyana, a complete stranger, knows where I am. My cell phone doesn't work. There is no phone in the apartment. There is no TV in the apartment. There is no food in the fridge. What if Tatyana never returns? What if there is a fire? My only option is to leave via the 6th floor window. The facade of the building doesn't lend itself to climbing. I'll have to make a rope with the only 2 sheets and 2 towels and maybe a few pairs of jeans and get as far down as possible and then fall the remainder of the way. Oh, I could toss out the mattress to make a landing pad. I can't stay here very long without food so I'll give her until noon before I have to panic and implement my plan. 10:00 comes and goes and I start to get really nervous. FORTUNATELY she does appear at 10:15 and I breathe a sigh of relief.

 :whirling:

There once was a Bill12920,
a man who has suffered plenty.
Starved and locked,
he's too shocked,
to stage a return, albeit scanty.
