Enjoying Kharkov
« on: October 02, 2009, 11:44:03 AM »
I am sitting here in Kharkov finishing up my second week of my trip. I have 5 days left. I have been a lurker for a while. No desire to post, I just read the good stuff from good posters and laugh at the idiots. Some of you need lead poisioning at about 3000' per second. The wealth of ignorance some people possess. Any idiots respond and like most people here we ignore you and what you write.

I am not new to this game. I think this is my 9th trip to Ukraine and one to Dominican (with a Ukranian woman). I dated a girl from Kiev for two years and this girl from Kharkov for two years. We are now thinking about doing the K-1 thing.

It is good to read the success stories of others and learn from other peoples failures. I have been taking it slow and steady for a while. It is a major decision, but now I might jump in the deep end. This is for the newbies. Go ahead and make the trip. It is an adventure. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

The agency that I used to meet Vika is the Mordinson agency. I have read that some of you laugh at the fact that they are family owned and run. I am not here to plug them, but the are on the up and up. No shit. E-mail or call them if you want. Your call. Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

I do have one question. How many kilograms of potatoes can you get in a Lada. I saw a few on the highway from Boryspil that would rival my 1 ton Ram in weight carried. I did see this week a Ford dually(sp) going down the street. How in heck does that guy keep his quarter panels intact driving the streets of Kharkov. Those of you that have been here know what I am talking about. I would be trading paint all day long with my Ram.

If you are thinking of making the trip, do it. It is a long road, but a rewarding. Idiots, refrain from posting. Just go to internet porn.

Hows the weather in the far east?

I trade paint about every week. Calms my nerves.

No idea on the potatoes. It would be the least of my worries

If I'm an idiot please ignore my post

But my understanding is that "Anything Goes" does not really mean "anything" if that "anything" violates the TOS.

Interesting that you are having success with Mordinson.  I once contacted them but was turned off by them insisting I had to rent their apartment, use their taxis and otherwise be obligated to them for the entire deal.  It came off as a scam but what do I know?  Is that your experience also, I mean that they required you to use them for everything?

Congrats on the girl. I hope everything goes well. You seem well versed in traveling to the Ukraine, but why so combative? It's a bit like making friends while pointing loaded shotguns at each other. Remember, to everyone, everyone else is an idiot. The term idiot is fairly subjective considering you have no way of know my or anyone elses IQ score on this forum.
Anyway I wish you luck, even if I am an idiot.

If you dated her for two years, are you still using the agency for all things ?
I would think that after 9 trips you would be able to make your own preparations.

Exactly Shadow.. that is why i questioned him about Mordinson.  Frankly I don't trust them any more than any of the other high profile agencies/sites.  If the OP doesn't respond i will write it off as a shill for the agency that simply confirms the negative impression I already had.

I am pretty open minded about the fact there are some good agencies. I've never heard anything good about Mordinsons though. In all the boards I been on, I can't recall a single positive comment. Of course even a blind squirrel finds a nut...

Poacher tell us more about your trip. I'd also be curious to hear more about how Mordinsons works as well. As mentioned by others, you are likely past any need for help from them (I hope).

As for getting your but in a seat and flying over, JUST DO IT! Don't sit on the fence but of course read the 10 commandments and make sure you have a backup plan and in country resources lined up before you go.
Take time to learn the language. Even a little can go a long ways...

Get off your butt and go! Don't make excuses why you can't do it, find a way to make it work! Always go with a backup plan too!!!

Ah, cause it's Ford Tough and not a Dodge?!? ;)
