FSU ladies and "Samson complex"?
« on: October 15, 2009, 05:57:03 AM »
A faculty colleague in the southest US found it necessary to drive 8 hours to his parents home in order to get away from his wife - she would not give him any peace and quiet. While he was gone she went to the campus and basically attacked his character to anyone who would listen (including the campus minister). The campus police had to remove her.

When he returned and asked her "WTF" - she denied doing it - witnesses to the contrary.

They have a lovely 5 year-old daughter who is caught in all this.

Is this "Samson complex" (tearing down everything around a couple in an orgy of destruction) a common tactic? My friend (and I) don't understand this - if they divorce (as seems likely after all this) all she's done is make ift harder on their child, not to mention child support, etc.  :o

It happens.  Immaturity at its highest.  Usually the result of the man caught cheating or otherwise scorning his wife.

There is the case of my American friend whose AW wife (now ex-) did worse.  To start, she took all of his expensive business suits and cut the sleeves off.  The Bill Belichick "sweatshirt look" just doesn't carry over to Hugo Boss suits.  She also cut his ties in half.  Then she went to work fervently.

The child is the one who will suffer because they have to share custody one way or the other.

There are crazy people everywhere. It has nothing to do with being from FSU, USA or Zimbabwe.

If a guy drives to his parents and is gone for one day to 'get away' there is probably a whole lot more than one incident.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

I suspect that's true - he mentioned several times that he hated it when our wives talked, because then his wife wanted anything she understood my wife had no outside work, hanna andersson clothes, etc.) Apparently her sister in Russia got a new vacume cleaner and she HAD to have a newer one.  8)

Something tells me the problems run deep in this one and it will get ugly. Unfortuntely she doesn't see or does not care that her behavior is harming the child.

Never heard of the Sampson Complex. I thought it had to do with haircuts or something.

Women are emotional creatures.

My experience has been: Living with them is hard. Living without them is harder. But the hardest thing of all -- by far -- is divorcing them...

FWIW.

I went through the same with my French x.

In her case it started as irrational jealousy over a female client and evolved into her interfering in business, making all kinds of drama with my family, cheating, and stealing a considerable amount of cash.

For years I thought it was something I had done.

10+ years later she entrapped an American guy with pregnancy and now they are married and have an 18 month old child.  Via our mutual friend I get updates.. they are in couples therapy 3 days a week...

It never had anything to do with me.. she was just nuts.

Re the hardest: Are you talking financial or emotional?

Either... both... take your pick...

I thought my second divorce was going to be easy peezy... we had no children together, and never merged our bank accounts. Very amicable.

Until, that is, she found out I started dating again... then Hell Loosed It's Fury (mind you, she wanted the divorce, and she was seeing someone before I was even gone... not that such logic applies...)

Of course........abusive people love to tear down others...it's like a narcotic, makes them feel good.   That's what gives them their power.

 Actually it does.

However I was thinking 'The Samson Option'
This is when if attacked, Israeli command unleashes its entire arsonal against the attacker.

Quote
“We will be exercising the doomsday scenario (Read: Samson Option) of simultaneous strikes against Israel on all fronts and by different means,” Israel’s defense ministry spokesman Shlomo Dror told AFP last week.

Exercise Turning Point 3 will also include simulating chemical and biological strikes on populated centers and a wave of attacks by Palestinians.

Fury either way
