Canadian immigration process / feedback
« on: October 31, 2009, 08:00:48 AM »
Hello,

I told I will not post during a little time, but as the embassy sent a letter to my wife, I would like to know if other people who dealt with the Canadian embassy had the same request:
they ask my wife for a chronology of her life (work/place/study) since she is 18 for every place where she stays more than 30 days...
She has done it already in the document sent to Mississauga, we sent the imm form, copy of diplomas with translations, copy of her workbook with translation, everything notarized. We don't understand what they want more...we will supply the same information again...

Does someone on the board get same kind of request ?

Of course I filled out the immigration form when I applied for skilled workers, category 1 class. I showed every place that I have been staying for longer than a month since I turned 18. This was part of my initial application.

Hi Benoit. We haven't received anything like that, yet.... However, 3 weeks ago Svetlana received an email, from the Canadian Embassy in Moscow, requesting an updated Criminal Check. This has us concerned because it almost definitely means that Svetlana won't arrive as a PR until after March :( Her present Criminal Check expires in late March. One other thing they asked for was a translated (english or french) and Notarized Copy of our Marriage Certificate. Odd for two reasons... First because it is written in English (Jamaican) and second because the Immigration Officer I spoke to before sending a copy with our Application in June, said that we didn't need to have it notarized  ???
I emailed the Embassy about this and whether it was okay for Svetlana to have the Notarization done in Russia. I never got an answer and neither did Svetlana! The email from the Embassy said we only had 30 days in which to comply or our Case would be closed and we'd have to begin all over again from scratch :( So, Sveta sent all requested information this week. We'll see what they ask for next :(
I just hope Svetlana isn't forced into having to get another Medical. Her present one expires April 1st and the cost recently rose to $500!!  >:(

yes..same for us...and if we did not , our application would have been rejected before being transferred to the embassy.. we do not understand why they ask again...and in parallel, they still do not have received the document from the province of Quebec... I have letter saying all was sent on august 26th and since 2 months, Quebec is saying that the embassy has lost them while embassy says that Quebec did not sent them...

In any case, Anna will bring documents to embassy next week, with copy of papers from Quebec (csq and sponsorship) they will have references at least as document must be transmitted elecronically and they do not accept paper version... Provincial and Federal can not talk directly !

That is why small government is best.  Government has no competition so the result is poor service and lazy workers.

docetae, if the embassy asks for some information, you better should provide it in the form they require, whatever strange or repeated it would have seem to you. And please have a copious records for yourselves!

  Docetae,

My wife did not get a request to provide the same information as your wife did, except in the original application, but she did get a request to provide information we already supplied.

Last week my wife received a letter inviting her to the embassy in Kiev for a "selection interview". She was asked to bring many of the original documents that we provided copies of in our application. Of course these also have to be translated and notarized again.

She was also told to bring evidence of an ongoing relationship, photos, telephone bills, etc.

 Utrobina,

Your wife can not get a new criminal record check before the current one expires?

Hi Ridersfan :) Where the hell have you been?? lol!

Oh yes, she went and got a new Police Certificate two weeks ago and had the Wedding Certificate Notarized last week. Sent both of these documents out last Thursday by Pony Express. My concern wasn't over obtaining these items. It was over having to get the Wedding Certificate Notarized, after being told it didn't need to be, and how this should have been flagged before our Application left Mississauga for Moscow. As well, the lack of Communication from the Canadian Embassy is unacceptable. Emails are never replied to no matter whether you are polite or brazen. It's bizarre :(
How has communication been with the Embassy in Kiev? When was your application opened in Kiev?

Hello Utrobina,

I apologize for the delay in replying. I see that you have already received your good news.

Timeline
Married Jan 27
Submitted papers early May
Papers returned in June due to no Medical
Papers resubmitted in mid August
Sponsorship approved late August
Oksana notified by Embassy that her file had arrived early September
Oksana notified of interview date mid October
Interview November 25, visa given same day
Oksana and Yulya (daughter) to arrive December 27.

We never attempted to contact the Embassy except to reply to any of their communication. All delays were our fault. I am pleased with how fast we were processed once we had submitted all required documentation.
