Gentlemen, can you explain me one thing.

Quote
we always suspected you are too pretty

This is how a Russian person would say. Shouldn't a English native speaker say: "we always suspected you were too pretty"? I am confused now  ::)

Gylden right but we were taught that if you used the past tense at the beginnig you should use the past tense further even if it was actually the present tense.  :cluebat:

We always suspected you were pretty.
We have always suspected you are pretty.

But JR said: We always suspected you are...  ::)

So how about registering while there?

Told you in a PM but I'll say something here in case someone else has the same crazy idea to visit a woman in Uzbekistan.

With the apartment company you are using, they will get your visa registered for a fee. If you were in a hotel, the hotel will take care of it. Tell Anton and his grandfather Ernest I said "hello". Anton's father once managed the apartments but he went to work in Russia. Anton is a good kid going to college and will never milk you for money. He's always helpful and doesn't asked to get paid but I tip him for his help. I once gave him $10 and at first he refused but I insisted and it made his day. Some people get paid only $2 a day there.

Make sure to visit the Amir Temur square which is the main square in Tashkent. There may not be much going on this time of year but it's worth visiting. If the circus is operating, go there to. Opera/ballet should be another place to visit. Go to the Bazaar. Probably boring for your lady unless she likes shopping around tons of people but it's worth seeing for yourself.

Can you do it at the post office?

You can do it wherever you like as long as you can get your RW to agree.

I suspect he just left out the "have" or his "we" should have been "we've".

Yes JR wasn't  thinking properly, likely all the blood drained out of his brain to somewhere else, leaving him unable to write.
Surely ,under the circumstances, you can forgive him this oversight..

Can and do are two different things...if I were to make proper sentences instead of playing with words you'd think you have me figured out, which you don't )))

So can we have sex now?

JR,
I'm curious if you've decided on when you are going to head to Uzbekistan?  Was wondering about your preparations.  Also, would you mind telling me what company you used to send the rose to Tashkent?

BillyB,
If you have any other info you'd like to pass along regarding visiting Tashkent/Uzbekistan, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

I am leaving on Feb 19 and returning on the 27th. I am using the agency BillyB listed upthread on page one for an apartment.

I found a local company in Tashkent for flowers but it didn't have an English option so I used roses.ru.

I posted a link to a trip report to my ex-fiancee earlier in this thread that has some info. If your lady is a good hostess, she will show you the best the city has to offer.

Take a small/partial roll of toliet paper or some napkins with you wherever you go just in case you need to go #2 when walking around town. Not all bathrooms have toilet paper available. Practice squatting when going #2. Lots of bathrooms are absent of toilets and you basically have to squat over a hole in the floor and keep your balance while doing your business. Hope you got good aim!

Thanks BillyB, I did start to read that.  Then got side tracked with your issues (Immigration) and started to read more about that... will get back to it though.

Thanks for the heads up on the facility issues.  Could be "interesting"...  :o

I am a few hours away from getting on an airplane. A lot of mixed emotions about this whole trip, almost cancelled last night. What it boils down to is meeting her for one day. Life happens, we shall see what it brings...

What do you mean you're only going to meet her for one day???? Is that all she's going to give you? Have plenty of backup and rent a mobile phone just in case.

Haha Ecocks...I am taking half a roll. I'd take more but with taking one carry on and a laptop case I just don't have the room for all the niceties of home.

What has happened to me is exactly why I don't believe in VO for a first visit. She lost her job in Dec. and last week got a new job which is requiring her to travel to Tajikistan on Monday. So I hope to be able to spend one day with her (even that is up in the air at this point) and determine if there is any reason to invest any more of my life into the situation. I'm not upset with her, life happens and I'd do that same in her shoes.

I do have a few phone numbers so maybe I'll use those options. She is suggesting I spend my time there with her family, LOL. So much for meeting the parents huh? :) Kinda like putting the cart before the horse but then again if her mom likes me I'm probably a shoe-in.
