Delta--direct flight to Kiev gone????
« on: December 14, 2009, 08:04:46 PM »
Hi folks,
We are in the planning stages for Nata to visit her folks in Odessa next spring; and we are searching all the sites.

can't seem to find the direct JFK-KBP flight anymore on Delta's website----but it does show on the Boryspil website.
Any idea if Delta dropped this?

We are trying for Atlanta to Odessa with only 1 stop if possible.

This - from last June...

The carrier (Delta) says it now operates three weekly year-round flights from New York JFK to Kiev with an extra two additional frequencies in the summer. But from 1 September, the carrier is asking for permission to drop this route entirely until the 2010 summer season.

Better give Delta a call to see what, if anything, is on the horizon. Good luck.

Aerosvit goes there from NY to Kiev now.  Book under the Aerosvit site.  I just took it to Ukraine.

There is also a new airline in Moscow with direct flights to several Ukraine cities now (not Kiev).  Will be a great option for people living in the many cities in the USA with direct flight to Moscow.

Delta dropped this direct flight, one which I had used before, until about May 2010.

Viking: But you still need to walk along the beach to find it.

Aerosvit is having some kind of "friday" sale.  Prices are lower on fridays.. sign up for their email alerts and try calling their new york office directly.  They were very helpful in the past.

Aerosvit  does Moscow-Odessa; Kiev; Donetsk   directly.

However, Nata adamantly refuses to go through Moscow

I was hoping for a direct flight from ATL to somewhere in Europe, then Aerosvit or Ukr. International down to Odessa----but Delta has layovers in Paris, Amsterdam, or Frankfurt

I guess we will have to wait until the summer route schedules are released :(

Information on flights from Moscow to Ukraine cities in future.

Today at 17:22 The Ukrainian subsidiary of Russia's OAO UTair, UTair-Ukraine, in December 2009 will start performing flights from three Ukrainian cities to Moscow, according to the air carrier's press service.

"UTair-Ukraine om the first stage of its activity will perform flights from Luhansk, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv to Moscow. Later the company will form a route network both inside and outside Ukraine. The flights will be performed using ATR-42 aircraft," a press release reads.

The air carrier will perform its first flight on the Luhansk-Moscow (Vnukovo)-Luhansk route on December 11.

UTair and UTair-Ukraine have signed a code-share agreement that foresees the joint performing of flights from Moscow to the Ukrainian cities.

UTair-Ukraine was created in September 2008. In the autumn of 2009 the company was awarded an N229 civil aircraft operator certificate. The company will perform both charter and regular flights. It is based at Luhansk airport.

As part of the 2009-2010 autumn and winter season, UTair is performing flights from Moscow to Donetsk, Lviv, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Simferopol, Kharkiv, and from Surgut to Kyiv.

UTair is one of Russia's five largest air carriers.
