If you think you've seen everything, well, you haven't
« on: January 03, 2010, 08:39:22 PM »
OK.
So, originally I pursued a backup plan.  (Didn't work, wound up with a WOVO plan instead.)
But prior to WOVO, I joined a few free or pseudo-free sites.  Why not take a chance, see if a backup plan is feasible.

So, I write a few women.  I realize no one here knows me very well, but I'm a very reserved, straight-laced guy.  In some ways I'm very old-fashioned, particularly when it comes to intimacy.  (It will be clear why this is important in a moment.)  I wrote that I had been to Ukraine before (so in so many words I am not a keyboard Romeo), I have several friends there (which is true, a couple of pro musicians, an interpreter and her family, etc.), that I am seriously searching for the right person, etc.  Very basic stuff.

I haven't checked this site I joined during the backup plan pursuit in quite a while, so I go out, check it out.
If there is something interesting, fine, if not, I am requesting to have my profile removed anyway, so whatever.

I have the following psycho e-mail.
============================
I will REPORT A SEX TOURIST AS PER NEW UKRAINIAN ANTI-SEX TOURISM LAW. then you and your pimp will GO TO PRISON. Next time, invent a better fairly tale and an American, spending several thousand dollars on VISITING FRIENDS. You greed is well known all around the world. You won't spend a cent on any friend, unless the friend is a pimp, who provides you with women for sex, and free sex, because you are kind of "looking for marriage". I won't tolerate by being harassed by filth like you, so you are REPORTED. Do not even try to enter this country.
============================
I am about as far from a sex tourist as a man can possibly be.  I said nothing in the e-mail that could remotely be misinterpreted.  The whole thing was rather disturbing.

Now, tell me that you can top that experience.

I have the following psycho e-mail.

XMan ~

Was that an unsolicited e-mail - or a response from someone you wrote?

Response from a woman I wrote.
Mid 30's, Master's degree, thought we might have some things in common.
I mentioned how much I like gardening and writing.  I don't know.  Seemed about as harmless as it could possibly get.

To say it caught me completely off guard is a huge understatement.  Especially considering the content of my e-mail, which I reread to make certain I was not crazy.

Was her profile in Cyrillic - and perhaps you failed to notice she has no interest in foreigners,
or moving anywhere?

Regardless, I cannot top that. What I would do is scratch her from your list and move on.

Well either she got you confused with someone else who really pi$$ed her off, or she is a basket case. I would not give this another thought. Dont even reply. BTW, she cannot report anyone to anybody, if that helps.

I will REPORT A SEX TOURIST AS PER NEW UKRAINIAN ANTI-SEX TOURISM LAW.

There is no such law.  Some feminists in Ukraine are insisting that a law against sex-tourism be passed, but they are doing it in a very strange way: posing as prostitutes near the building of the Rada (parliament).  :D  Perhaps this lady is one of them.

Don't sweat it and move on.

No, profile was in English.  I didn't both with anything in Cyrillic.  Looked for women who had some English background.  There was nothing about "no foreigners write me please" or anything akin to that.  Strangely, the link that took me to this site was from an Irish Penpals site.  I'm not kidding.  Folks from all countries.  I had letters from South Africa, Ghana, Australia, Sweden, and France.  No one I was interested in writing, but it was unusual.

I don't know.  As I said, very disturbing.  I feel sort of accused of something that in a million lifetimes I would never be.  Strange that it troubles me so much, but it really does.  So maybe the secret police will be waiting when I land in Kiev....
(Oh, just saw the new post from Viking -- I lean toward basket case, and good to know I won't be handcuffed in Kiev.)

Ah well.
What is that famous t-shirt again?
Shit Happens.
So true.

Sorry, didn't see my typo.

Should read "I didn't bother with anything in Cyrillic."

That, my dear, is child's play based on things I've seen and lived through in Ukraine.

I would not be surprised if, at some point, you get a follow up email suggesting this can all be cleared up with a small "donation".

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Hey, XMan - at least she was upfront about it. Imagine getting that sort of "business" face to face
upon arrival - now THAT would dictate a rapid backup plan deployment...

Let me just say I am glad that I have not had YOUR experiences then.

That had not even entered my thought patterns yet.

They do this because they need to shock in order to be noticed.

XMan, you don't know the half of it.  Or, even 10%.   There is one poster here who knows some of those experiences - someone I have spoken to.  I have posted a little bit, I am in no way secretive about them, but they are not things I would plaster all over the internet.

Think I'll pass concerning asking any further questions at the moment.
