Update on Shadow

As I have not been posting frequently here and some of the members jumping boards might not have gotten all of our story.

Since September 12 my life has been changed by the presence of a Russian Woman in my house. A Moscovite woman to be precise.  The first week we spent together, as I was free from work to make her know the roads a bit. After this the normal life started.

One of the first things I introduced her to was the city of The Hague. As I know the city and all of it places I was able to show her the parts where houses looked like hers, and those where our beloved muslims live.

The appointment at city hall for her one-year residence permit was almost hilarious as I ended up correcting the people from city hall on several issues. Having read all the laws and recent changes gave me a distinct knowledge advantage over them. On the other hand they also gave some good information about things like future marriage, should we want to plan this.

One of the best weeks was when I had flu, and was staying at home for the week. I was sad to go back to work, but well I still have to work for the cash.

Just recently we got the letter that her residence permit has been approved, and she can stay until September 2006. And there is not any doubt we will apply for longer terms. My country has the great law that married and unmarried partners are treated as equal, which makes it easy to get to know each other without pressure. But that does not change our wish to become a family.

So far we have not had any fight. She is full of emotions, while my nature is calm and cool. Somehow this goes together very well. We both feel each others emotions and wishes, and can anticipate on them. While we are not perfect as people, we are reaching as a couple what we were looking for.

One of the things that we have in common is our background. We are both form a family of two children, both the youngest child. Both our parents are together for a long time and still in love after this time. We are equal in how we like to live, and in may of the things we like.

This was just to let you all know that we are so far a full success story and we will both do our best effort to continue as such. I wish to all members here the happiness that we have found these past few months.

Great system but only for holland ... be married only if you feel ready and have enough time to know your future partner is really a plus...

Congratulations, I hope you and your Moscovichka are very happy  together.  I too found great happiness with a woman from Moscow,  but to say so around these boards is almost blasphamy.

Shadow ~ Thanks for the update.  Yes, your system seems a lot more civilized that our continuous in-fighting with the USCIS.  One thing though: how is it your country doesn't have problems with unchecked immigration from the FSU?  Supposedly, that why our rules are so tight.

And here the latest news.......

As of January 1, 2006 we are engaged. Ceremonies will be near the end of the year, due to red tape.  Until then we already consider ourselve married :kissing:

I am very happy for the two of you.  It is such a breath of fresh air to hear about one that is going well for a change instead of what we usually get to hear about, the ones with problems.

I wish the two of you a lifetime of happiness. 

Thank you for sharing your story with us.  All the bummers we read about sometimes make me wonder what the hell I am doing looking to Russia for my wife.  But you reminded me of why I started this journey in the first place.

P.S.  Great system they have in your country.  As I am certain you know, here they force you to marry within 90 days or she gets a boat ride back from whence she came.
