Dating women from Ukraine who are in prison.

I had heard about this rumor some months ago from my wife's uncle who is a deputy warden at an all women facility just outside Kharkov. It seems that the prison bureau of Ukraine is encouraging women who are locked up to being writing to western men with the hopes of marriage. As crazy as it may sound steps are already being taken to make this happen. The prison is for ladies who are locked up serving misdemeanor offenses such as theft, tax evasion, assault and some possession of drug charges. According to him he said that this is going to be an experimental process with his prison in Kharkov as the first one and with some success they are hoping to expand it to different regions and facilities.

The women are being taught English and computer skills while serving their time. I do know that there are several agencies here in the states that help men connect with women that are incarcerated. He said the idea behind such a movement was to help the women garner some hope about their future. He said his facility houses some 400 women from all over Ukraine with most of them not being maximum security. The prison will have it's own website and tours and housing will be available for up to 10 men at a time who are coming to visit the different women. He said that there are apartments that were built for guards and workers at the prison that are not in use that will be used to house men coming to visit. Because no major felony crimes have been committed by these ladies, it will not effect their K-1 status. Of course not all the women who are incarcerated are marriage material but I'm sure there are some. The website will be up in a month or so. The ladies who are interested have been learning English everyday now for several months. Not all women are eligible are interested. He told my wife that the demeanor and attitudes of the ladies in prison are so much better since talk of this program began. I can certainly see where the women would view this as a great opportunity. He said because of overcrowding in Ukraine's women prisons that it is an excellent opportunity to help alleviate some of the over crowding. I know he'll keep me informed and I'll post a link to the website when they are up and running. I enjoy talking to him. His English is very good because he lived in London for 10 years.

I am being 100% honest with everything I have posted regarding this issue. I dont know what else to say. Posters,moderators and seekers are free to believe or not believe. I dont know how I can prove my post other than we'll just have to wait and see how this plays out in the next month or so. I'm just trying to help people out here. Maybe it's time for me to start to think about taking what little knowledge I know about this endeavor and moving on since I seem to get no respect around these parts. All I did was repeat what has been told to me.

Yet, it gives no information specific to prison until the bottom of the page where it mentions apartments in Nikolaev.  That makes it clear, because Nikolaev and prison are indistinguishable.
