March 8 gifts?
« on: February 21, 2010, 10:58:49 AM »
In the past I've simply gone the flowers route.
Perhaps the ladies can best answer this question, although it may be individual preference rather a generalization.
Are flowers the "safe bet?"
Or is something other than flowers (whatever that might be) a better idea?

Flowers/champagne/chocolates are always a safe bet IMO. I did that for the last two years. This year will be different as she is here with me and I did that for Valentines. Unless you are sending a package (unlikely it will make it in time at this juncture) I'd go with the flowers/champagne and if you are looking to score big with flowers, don't forget her mother

Good point regarding mother (and in this case daughter as well).
But I don't know her parent's address, so that may be a little tricky.
Thanks.

Then that may or may not be a case to include the daughter and exclude the Mother. Especially if the mother has a husband. Someone pointed that little thought out scenario to me a few years ago and I think it was a tremendous help. I certainly wouldn't have thought of it on my own  ;D

Nothing for my wife as Christmas and Valentine's Day are still piled up downstairs.

Mama will get a few flowers and maybe some clothing.
Pick and choose carefully among the advice offered and consider the source carefully. PM, Skype or email if you care to chat or discuss

Just flowers will work fine.

If you don't know her mama as a close friend, I don't think you should send flowers. It sounds "too much" for me.
If you were there and visited them on this day, it would be rude to appear in their house without anything.

But do it as you feel right  8)

I doubt I could compete, but don't worry, my eye has already been set...   ;)
