So the plot of this story is:

Man corresponds with a girl in Kiev and decides to visit her.
When he arrives there and turns on his cell there is a message from her that she had to leave as she got a job in Turkey.
Man meets with her family who tell him that she has simply disappeared since she left for Turkey.
Man hunts her down and finds out she is being held by White slavers in Turkey.
Man rescues her and they live happily ever after.
Any suggestions about the title?

I don't care what the title is, I'm buying a ticket!
When does the movie come out? :)

As soon as Mir and I get done fighting over... I mean... 'working out' the rights and details with JR.  :)

Hmmm... maybe... but that might have different meanings depending on the bath houses one frequents....

Sorry, couldn't resist.

{edit to add} JR, I hope you are okay with our kidding... I for one really respect your choices and how you acted in these odd circumstances.  And I do think it is a very good story that people should hear.  I know for me it just added to the idea I already had, that you are a good man.

Billy, there is a possibility that her family could have noticed him chasing another woman and he would have lost his sainthood.

Chances are JR is not staying with her family 24/7 and if they find out he talked to another woman after following him around town spying on him, then maybe it's all for the best that he find another woman.

Although what JR done is honorable but it's not necessary or completely wise for anybody to risk a huge chunk of their life for something that is unknown such as the lady he never and still hasn't met and uncertain as in the very low chance of anything materializing to marriage when men do go to visit a woman in the FSU.

The day of arrival! I finally get to meet K....Yay on me!!! I call her and call her and call her…no answer ((( I decide a shower is in order and perhaps I'll just show up at her apartment. But wouldn’t you know it, I’m all soaped up and the phone rings! It’s her!!! No, it’s not. It’s her best friend/sister-in-law apologizing like mad and telling me she is not here.

She is a good girl if she is not asking for money  :), but in this situation she should asked you to pay for her airplane ticket to get to her new work destination. It is crazy to make such a trip for nothing. Even one hour together would give you clear answer what to do next.

I awoke with a start to the sound of the doorbell. I knew right away that I would have felt better if I had stayed awake. Everything inside of me was screaming “Not enough sleep, not enough sleep.” My eyes had that dry grating feeling which complained of not enough down time. Still the doorbell rang.

I got up and rushed to the door (I was fully clothed) and opened it to a crowd of people, (I guess three people are a crowd at 2 am. Anton and his grandfather were there for the apartment keys and O was there for me. I grabbed my carry on and laptop case, gave the keys to Anton, shook hands and followed O outside the apartment building. Her husband Ruslan and family friend Timur (my driver) were waiting at the car. They had brought me a couple of fruit plates and a bottle of wine as a departing gift. I practically had to jump on my carryon to get it to close!

Along the way to the airport there is some small talk but mostly the feeling is subdued. Tumir had come to pick us up at the opera and O had told me not to give him anymore money, that I had given him enough already. Well we got there and I said goodbye to Timur, we shook hands and I passed two fives in doing so. Anybody, especially a stranger who picks my butt up at 2 am deserves something for his trouble.

O and Ruslan accompany me to the entrance. As we are saying our goodbyes I break one of the commandments. Well, sort of anyways. What does it say? “Don’t give money to someone you’ve never met.” I was requested by someone I’ve never met to help someone I have met. Maybe that’s a grey area where the commandments are concerned. I pulled out some US currency and the last of my Uzbek currency and gave it to O. She took it without balking.

K called during dinner at her mom’s flat on Monday and related to her and O that her new chief had dropped another bomb on them after they had arrived in Dushanbe. He would not be paying them until the end of the three months instead of the agreed upon intervals. When I heard this I told O that he wasn’t going to pay them at all and if he did it would be much less than the promised amount. When it was my turn to talk to K she asked me to help her mom financially if I could. It didn’t sit well with me but I told her I would. So I did and the money wasn’t a big deal. It was more of the thought that was planted “Ok, where does this end?” But I am dealing with it.

So I pass thru the Pearly Gates and begin a whole new odyssey to get back home….

JR, tell me your making all this up? K arrives home the day after you leave? Are you sure K is not married?

Where does it end?  It ends when you vanish from this drama. Hopefully tonight.

You cant use the term ''Dump her" (sorry Groov) because you dont have a relationship. So just cut communication in a good manner and start again.

This is like feeding a stray dog. It does not give you companionship because its scared and confused. It will sneak the food you give it to satisfy its hunger. You might see it or touch it but thats about it. It eats and runs.

Thanks for finishing your very different TR Jolly.  The ending does seem very fishy to me.  Good luck!

Personally, I would move on. So many strange things have happened and you haven't even met her. I know you are experienced but you should read the rules again.

For me, time and money are important. And I would feel as if I had just been put through the ringer. But you are a big boy and can do what you want.

Whew!

I read and thought all along this is fuggin INSANE. I know, "I" wouldn't have made such a trip to Tashkent to meet her for the first time for just one day. Made absolutely no sense but to each his/her own thus, I kept my mouth shut. My thinking was, how many coincidences could there possibly be between one man and one woman trying to meet.

Is she even real? You met her family. They would all have to be in on it if was a scam. What was your feeling? Was she real and was she REALLY blonde enough to get duped by supposed employer?

The whole thing reeks to hell and back. Add the big stinky doody bomb about helping out momma out financially and you have recipe for sticking it up Joe's sphincter and breaking it off.

Punt dude

Where do you see anything about K returning the day JR left?

From the story, she is still in her new employment, and simply not getting paid at the agreed upon interval?
i'd say that isnt completely unusual there.
Of all the other circumstancial wackiness of this story ,
that part seems the likely?

I'm not saying one way or another on the whole deal,
it can be the matrix sometimes over there!
(heck, the *cousin* could be her husband ,stranger things have happened )

i'm just pointing  out *that part of the story* seems typical and even likely.
Asking for fincial help from JR,when she hasnt even met him seems odd..  ....but he is the one in contact with her..and her family,,
its possible she took the job mostly in last ditch attempts to support the family.

The other side is, they did all get by , long before JR saw some photo on the intr'onet

3 sides to every story......interesting where this one might lead,
thanks for continiung to share it JR.
You're a good egg ,regardless outcome!

I was confused. So, I asked 4 questions and answered 1 myself. The one of how it ends.

I was probably talking to myself. But whats new.

LOL, this time I agree with you 100%.  :D

Great story, JR. Reminded me a bit of that romantic comedy Serendipity (minus the good ending).  :(

Well said AJ.  I like to keep an open mind too.  I have even less idea of what the truth is than JR does.  I just hope the best for him...

It has been an unusual story... But I think bolded part says it best.

Thanks for sharing it with us JR.

A lot of crap has been happening JR. Maybe destiny is trying to tell you this is not it. Anton and his grandfather are good people. They probably spoke to your lady's family enough time to begin to understand if they are good people or low class people. You should ask their HONEST opinion on what type of people they thought you were dealing with.

Sure , the mother gladly accepted this ''help'' for nothing

bills for the bunch of people in restaurants, etc, etc, etc...

Isn't it obvious what type of the people JR was dealing with ?

JR,

the "money" fact spoiled everything : your K image, in the first place.

K's actions--asking you for money-- speak louder than any words. She  actually TOOK ADVANTAGE OF YOU, showing you she didn't care : asking you for money while she DID NOT EVEN GET TO SEE YOU.

Tells me K is unethical, cheap. Sorry.

I didn't want to say that, just tried to give little hint that it ware some possibilities to meet. Russian women are very crafty, we  taught by life to find a way out from almost impossible situations. All this story doesn't sound good to me, sorry.

When I went to visit my ex fiancee in Tashkent, she pays a doctor to write a note saying she can't work so she can take a few weeks off to see me full time. I offered to pay for her loss of wages before I visit but she always refuses any money from me but I always get it to her somehow such as when I leave Tashkent, I convieniently forget to covert Uzbek money back to dollars and tell her I can't take this home or use it anymore and it forces her to accept it.

:D It was exactly what my husband did. I refused to accept any money, so he ordered flowers and candies for me. When girl delivered it to me she said she still have extra money ($100?) after puschase  :D What could I do, exept to take money? :D

I hate to come of as obtuse or nosy.

JR - you sure seem like a top drawer kind of guy.  I respect your privacy.  But, can you give some comment to the group how your subsequent communication has gone with the lady in question?   At this time, do you feel that the challenges of life simply got into the way ... or do you think you were the victim of a rather elaborate - and expensive - hoax?

I have always tended to brush off charges of "SCAMMERS" generally as the fault of naive men that should have known better.  But this story is much different.
