Canada to Ukraine
« on: May 05, 2010, 05:45:27 PM »
I haven't had much luck finding flights to Ukraine from the East Coast. I would like to go Kiev and Odessa around October. I see some people have posted about apartments and how they did it themselves. Does anyone know the links or where the ads are? Feeling frustrated. I don't normally travel but am looking forward to doing a lot more of it nowadays.

Google "kiev apartments" and you'll get dozens of hits.

And as for flights to the Ukraine from the east coast, nothing direct of course.  Either you'll have to via NY for a direct flight, or fly from Montreal/Toronto to Frankfurt and connect on to Kiev (total about $1500 CAD).  Or use Aerosvit direct from Toronto to Kiev (about $1100).

www.expedia.ca will give you your options.

I usually fly from Toronto to Vienna to Ukraine using Austrian Air. One nice thing about Austrian is that they will look after a hotel for you for the overnight you have to take on the return portion.

If you are flying to Odessa, Lot Polish Air from Toronto can get you there for less than Austrian. Odessa to Toronto does not require a overnight stay in Warsaw if travelling with Polish Air.

I usually book direct with the airlines or it's handled by my travel agent as I have very little luck with www.expedia.ca in getting the best rates.

Fogged, what do you pay for your roundtrip via Vienna? (to Kiev presumably?)

Kyiv is obviously easier to get to internationally than Odessa.  There are quite a few flights from Kyiv to Odessa, so that might be the most efficient way.  I paid top dollar for the flight from Kyiv to Odessa and it was around $150 US.
