The results are funny--but seems to make sense:

Agree, seems to make sense:

"But Drefahl also found that for women, the greater the age difference with her husband, the lower her life expectancy, regardless of whether she is younger or older than her spouse.

Using data from almost two million Danish couples, Drefahl showed that for women the best choice is to marry a man of exactly the same age. "

Pitbull, Agree, here is a bit different view:

What really surprised me in the Drefahl study was  how very negatively it affected an older woman who married a younger man.  Previously, I would not have thought it impacted woman so badly.

Interesting links....Thanks!

I wonder if the added stress of culture shock/living far from old friends and friends can add to the equation. I am sure it does.

A woman getting married shortens her life expectancy? That's a no brainer. All husbands want to kill their wives at some point. 8)

Good point I/O.  There is a lot of truth in that.

I wonder if that study shows what they think it does.  It seems to me that traditional women marry men thier age or older and that someone who marries a younger man may be more of a risk taker and into a faster life style and that it may be those risks and faster life that may shorten the life span and the younger husband could just be another symptom.

Either way, it seems likely she'd be going out with a smile on her face. 8)
