Here's the sticker for me Mars, you invite the woman to dinner and make notation of everything she orders as if you are keeping score. Shouldn't really matter if she orders 3 Filets and cracked Lobster. You invited the woman and I assume with the pretense that you would be footing the bill, why the distinction?

Faux Pas, I assume the point wasn't impulsive accounting or petty griping. Yes, you are correct that as his guest she is free to order whatever she wants. However what she does order will provide some clues about her personality, expectations, etc.
A woman who pays doesn't care how she spends a man's money on the first date is likely not a good match. (unless the guy is loaded)

If you didn't give any impression to the ladies how much money you have, then if a woman likes you, she will respect you and your money and take you to a place that is nice and romantic but easy on your wallet.

Your lady #1 did not like you. I'm not going to speculate if you're a jerk or she's looking for a free meal. Maybe she does want to find a man to marry but she didn't like you before she took you to that restaurant. She wanted to get the best meal possible from the only date she was going to have with you.

I tend to agree withh BillyB on this

See? See how smart Doll was- she asked to go to McDonald's! I am not kidding you guys, I am not!
Guess what- now I order lobsters and fillets.
Seriously! If the woman is not into a man she will order a big meal. I mean RW.

Doll, perhaps we could make a deal and both shut up before we spoil this report, which is actually a good report regardless of the ethos, completely?

The first girl, well it wasn't her first rodeo. A $120 for dinner. Ouch. You need to expose this woman. She used you. Start by getting her name out there on the web. these animals have to be stopped.

Здравствуте Doll, no I wouldn't expect you go to McD's, and if you asked I would suggest something else.  ;) But then, I speak Russian so I would probably choose the restaurant myself anyways.

Seriously! If the woman is not into a man she will order a big meal. I mean RW.

I think you are correct.  :)

That's a bit of an overreaction.  :-\
She ordered some filet mignon & caviar instead of the borscht. Big deal.
If guys can't afford to lose a few hundred $$$ in this adventure then they have no business going to Russia to find a wife.  ::)
She had a swanky meal and she just wasn't that into him.
Get over it and move on.  :ohbrother:

I am still not sure who is supposed to pick the place to eat- a man or a woman?
Actually I insisted on MD because I had never been there before.
Sure we ate dinners in nice places. I was just joking a little. "Honey, don't tell anybody in the US I took you to MD" :D I still am blackmailing him. :D

What I was trying to say is I knew this American ........hm.........hm.......passion for money, so was really modest!  :D
As for the girl in OP, I've heard it from many women- if they don't like the man they will at least have a nice meal.

Ok. Isn't it the discussion board? Like I always tell my husband when he wants me to shut up,"It is a free country, so I am talking!"  :blowkiss:
After all, I am Russian with Russian mentality.
So, what is offense  for you is just a sweet talking for me  :blowkiss:

That was the best thing I read all day, thanks!

OP,
I hope that you continue.  Irrespective of those picking apart your sentences, conclusions or methods, it's well written and can probably show many guys a good cross-section of different situations and behavior.

The most disgusting thing I've read in here .
Hope, you were ''warned''for comparing a lady with an animal on a public forum. :wallbash:
Before you will call this place like "RussianAnimalsDiscussion'', etc.

Author is complaining about  things that really are hard for his wallet.
A woman agreed to keep him a company in his preferred time-that was a sort of ''price'' for what she did.
Looks like she had no intentions to go on with him from the beginning.

FSU countries are not for the guy.. he should look somewhere on East-Thailand .. or Phillipines..I mean, local McDonalds..

ps. And what happened to that girl with an expensive 700$ coat?
Was that the first and the last shopping with her? :P

Bit of a needlessly critical comment don't you think?  ::)

Actually no, it was not critical or needless. I think vwrw's comments should be put into context.

It seems to me Greg was being facetious with a very tongue in cheek comment and most everyone got that, everyone but you

He was as much complaining as much as he was mentioning and he didn't mention it was hard or he couldn't afford it

How do you come to that conclusion? She was there wasn't she? If you were there maybe you should give us your version of the TR

Maniac perhaps you should seize this opportunity to read and learn from a guy that has actually been there in case you ever do get off your butt and go, instead of thinking yourself the resident expert while never setting a foot in the FSU. You come off as highly critical, hurling useless advice.  :cluebat:

Really, I do not read a lot in here but never calling an animal any human being.
IT seems to me, you are a bigger expert about my home country then I am , good for you.. since I have spent the most in my life to FSU :P
May be, your advices in here are more helpful, or at least MORE POLITE?

Maniac, I see now that the English language is not your first language, nothing wrong with that. But thats probably the reason why you cant get the sarcasm and tongue in cheek meanings in Gregs post. Your taking his words literally when they are not meant to be.

Secret City big time! How many cities in Russia have Metro? 3?

As the men here repeatedly tell us; these Russian gals are just super intelligent, highly educated, etc.  And, of course, they know everything about their home country.

The 'three' Russian cities with metros are:

Chelyabinsk
Kazan
Moscow
Niznij Novgorod
Novosibirsk
Omsk
Samara
St.Petersburg
Ufa
Volgograd
Yekaterinburg

If you go to that link, you'll note that most of those cities don't yet have metros.  They are in the planning stages.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

I guess I was used a lot I spent more than $500 dollars on dinner and concerts numerous times first date.  Was my choice.  $200 for dinner for two in Kiev is not much with good wine.  Than private table later at disco or concert.
