Connecting to KBP via LHR
« on: January 16, 2006, 12:03:07 AM »
Forgive me if this is in the wrong section, I do not see a "travel" section.   Moderator, feel free to move if there is a more appropriate place...

I have a flight ORD to LHR on American Airlines, connecting in LHR to KBP on British Air.   BA only flies to Kiev once a day.   I only have a one hour and fifteen minute connection time!   What happens if my flight from Chiacago is late~  will I be stuck in London or will the accomidate me on another carrier (even though there are no other nonstops, I could fly LHR-KBP via Milan later in the day, or through Hungary, Poland or PRG).    Any thoughts?   Hate to waste a day in London, its not Amerstdam after all....

From British Airway site :

Please make sure you know how to transfer between your flights.

If you are late for your flight it will depart without you.

I have had that exact thing happen to me on my last two trips.  They have usually found me alternate flights which is cheaper for them than putting you up in a hotel.

Hopefully it will not happen to me again when I go to Kiev tomorrow.

The problem is that there are no alternate BA flights, just other carriers....

The other carriers are not a problem.  My trip before the one I arrived on today was on booked on Austrian Air.  I never flew on one of their planes for the whole trip.  The re-booked me on KLM and Delta.  They don't want you to have to stay over.  They don't worry about what airline you have to go on.   Todays trip was the first in the last three that I actaully flew on the planes I was supposed to.   Of course I had to sit on the plane for an hour while they repaired the electrical circuts but it did go and I didn't miss my connections.
