Schengen Visa for diferent countries

Hi,

I have been talking with a girl from Odessa in Ukraine for about 6 months mow. We have tried to find a date to meet in Odessa, but becuase of my work and my custody of my son it is hard to find a date that works with her syudies at Uni.

We are now thinking about her visiting me for a week instead and then the Schengen Visum comes into play. Accoring to my knowledge the rules of a Schengen Visa should be the same in all of the Schengen countries. We can bacially choose between three countries to apply for the Schengen Visa in, Finland, Sweden ot Estonia. According to the Urkainan travel agencies, applying for a Schengen Visa to stonia would be much easir??

Do anybody have any knowledge of this?

The official rules for Schengen visa state that it has to be applied in either the country of entering the Schengen border, or the country of destination.
This means that Estonia is a possibility, as Estonia is an old tourist destination for Russians. However make sure that she will be granted a visa valid for more than a single Schengen country, as there are different types. A "D" visa is valid for the country which gives the visa only, where as a "C" visa allows free travel.

Finland seems to be very accommodating - my wife and I met in Helsinki once before we were married just because it has a reputation of being easy for an FSU citizen to get a visa there.

We never had any problems getting a shengen visa for my wife to Norway. IMO just apply for the visa to Finland, where she will be traveling to.

I should add, it is probably better if you send a letter of invitation, rather than she tries for a plain tourist visa.
